The VP, Digital Technology Services (DTS) Transformation & Operations, Office of the Chief Information and Digital Officer (CIDO) will account for the key transformation initiatives, program management, operational management, budget oversight, vendor management, continuous improvement of all IT products, services, marketing and communications for the DTS Division. Provides leadership, vision, and prioritization for optimizing the applications, supporting technologies, and IT processes supporting Hackensack Meridian Health (HMH). Ensures DTS Division office administration meets the objectives of the Division and its team members. 

Builds strong relationships with business partners and HMH leadership. Develops and aligns digital and technology optimization strategy with business-based decisions and fosters consensus at all levels of the organization to ensure the achievement of business objectives. Serves as a senior member of the DTS leadership team. Advises DTS senior management on issues affecting the operations and/or strategic direction of DTS. Collaborates with other senior executives to resolve and monitor a broad and diverse range of financial, operational, and strategic issues in Digital Technology Services.

Responsibilities

A day in the life of a VP, Digital Technology Services (DTS) Transformation & Operations, Office of the Chief Information and Digital Officer (CIDO) at Hackensack Meridian Health includes:

  • Strategic Alignment: Provide oversight of the development of application strategies, plans, and budgets that are aligned with HMH’s objectives. Assist in the development and management of DTS roadmaps, incorporating long-term budget planning, emerging technology, market competitiveness, and cultural and strategic alignment with the HMH network. 
  • Transformative leader: Collaborate with executive, operational leaders and teams to identify areas for improvement, implement innovative processes, and facilitate organizational change. Responsibilities often include developing and executing comprehensive transformation strategies, influencing cross-functional teams, and ensuring alignment with the company's vision. 
  • Vendor Management: Maintain a sourcing strategy that is cost-effective and efficient and ensures the appropriate utilization of internal, contracted, and outsourced IT resources.
  • Financial Stewardship: Align the DTS budget with organizational strategy and monitor organizational performance against the budget. Work in accordance with HMH's capital budgeting process and ensure transparency to the executive leadership team on financial/budget compliance in the short and long term. Create effective partnerships and negotiate advantageous agreements with service providers and hardware and software vendors.
  • DTS Process Optimization: Enable all aspects of performance - cost, schedule, budget, product and service quality. Establish service metrics and service level agreements with DTS clients and work with others within DTS to ensure compliance and continuous improvement of products and service levels.
  • DTS Communications & Marketing: Establish Division and network communication goals and enable a culture of managed changes for all DTS product releases. 
  • DTS Administration: Establish standards for DTS administrative personnel to support the DTS team. Ensure a safe, fun, and efficient office environment to meet the needs of the DTS leadership team and all Division team members. Coordinate activities to support HMH and Division culture development with the team. 
  • Service Management: Inform and guide the development of a state-of-the-art customer service model that offers high-quality relationship recovery, remediation, and service. 
  • Establish the design, implementation, and ongoing operational management of standardized Service Level Agreements between DTS and HMH.
  • Lead the design, implementation, and management of standardized performance reporting based upon agreed Service Level Agreements between DTS and HMH. Ensure reporting provides transparency to the value of the DTS Services.
  • Develop and maintain a culture that promotes service and operational excellence as well as colleague empowerment to act in the best interest of DTS customers who are directly caring for our patients.
  • Initiate changes in programs and processes in response to customer satisfaction survey results using performance improvement methods and techniques.
  • IT Governance: Inform and guide the development of enterprise technology policies, standards, and governance processes to ensure DTS delivers value to the enterprise. Develop portfolio management processes that meet the appropriate standards and provide portfolio oversight to ensure projects achieve the expected business results.
  • People Management: Hire, develop, appraise, reward, manage, and retain a highly qualified DTS team. Motivate and mentor DTS management and staff. Lead by example through appropriate participation and involvement in, and oversight of all DTS activities. Plan and provide continuity and succession for all DTS management. Act as an agent of change to introduce new concepts of service and technology processes cost-effectively.
  • Regulatory and Compliance Alignment: Develop, implement, and oversee programs, policies, and other activities related to existing and potential programs and regulatory matters within the HR, Finance, Revenue cycle, analytics, Clinical-acute, ambulatory continuing care, and imaging business lines. Maintains a working knowledge of applicable Federal, State, and local laws/regulations; the Hackensack Meridian Health Compliance Program and Code of Conduct; as well as other policies and procedures to ensure adherence in a manner that reflects honest, ethical, and professional behavior.
  • Other duties and/or projects as assigned.
  • Adheres to HMH Organizational competencies and standards of behavior.

Qualifications

Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

  • Must possess a comprehensive knowledge of information systems administration, as normally obtained through completion of a Master's degree in Business Administration or applicable work experience, in Computer Science and/or Health Administration.
  • Minimum of ten (10) years' experience in Information Systems. IT and business experience in the Healthcare Information Technology arena is also required.
  • Must possess strong conceptual and analytical skills, as well as demonstrated leadership skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including communication at the executive level.
  • Strong leadership/influencing skills are required with the ability to work effectively within a system and influence others to achieve results.
  • Excellent project management, organization, analysis, and problem-solving skills required.
  • Must possess demonstrated experience working with and negotiating with external vendors.
  • Must be able to operate effectively in a collaborative, shared leadership environment.
  • Must possess a personal presence that is characterized by a sense of honesty, integrity, and caring with the ability to inspire and motivate others to promote the philosophy, mission, vision, goals, and values of Hackensack Meridian Health.

Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Preferred:

  • Computer Science and/or Health Administration and a minimum of ten (15) years experience in Information Systems.
  • IT and business experience in the Healthcare Information Technology arena.
  • Excellent project management, organization, analysis, and problem-solving skills.

Licenses and Certifications Preferred: 

  • Project Management Institute (PMI) certification.
  • ITIL Foundation
