The Business Development Research (BDR) Group is responsible for various research and analysis functions related to sales and business activity including competitor research; analysis for investment strategies; product and financial market data analysis; business activity; and trend analysis. The group’s responsibilities include the identification and assessment of related data and research sources and tools. The group must maintain a strong understanding of PIMCO’s investment strategies and the institutional marketplace to deliver the latest analysis to our management teams and client management and sales professionals. The group must be innovative in finding solutions and interacts with various businesses across PIMCO in carrying out various research, technology, and strategic initiatives.
Develop reports using programming tools (e.g., VBA, SQL) to automate and update business reporting
Track sales metrics (e.g., opportunities, finals meetings, won/lost business) and synthesize information into reportable trends
Provide periodic (e.g., monthly, quarterly) reporting to internal and external contacts (e.g., competitor reports, market share reports, consultant index reports)
Utilize PIMCOs’ proprietary and external analytical tools (e.g. eVestment, Morningstar Direct) to respond to client, prospect, and consultant inquiries
Track competitors across our products and report competitor intelligence to our management teams and client management and sales professionals
Identify, assess, and summarize investment management industry trends that can provide insights to our management teams and client management and sales professionals
Provide prospect research for new business opportunities
Candidates should possess 1-5 years of experience in a business analytics role and have an interest in learning about the financial markets, investment management industry, competitive landscape and client, prospect, and consultant relationships
Strong knowledge of SQL is required; experience building queries and reports for business analysis
Strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel, including VBA, is required; proficiency with software and database applications, including but not limited to index provider databases, query tools, and Bloomberg
Outstanding analytical and problem solving skills, both quantitative and qualitative
Strong interpersonal, organizational, and time management skills
Excellent written and oral communication skills, with great attention to detail
Candidates should possess a degree in Business Analytics, Quantitative Finance, or a related subject
