Sales Account Manager - South & East Gauteng

Purpose 

The Sales Account Manager will be responsible for the sale of products from the Analytical division of PerkinElmer in South and East Gauteng in a manner which positively reflects the Company image.

Priorities and Objectives

  • To compete for all sales opportunities within the territory, ensuring that all necessary resources needed are used in order to close business in favour of PerkinElmer
  • To build and maintain relationships with existing and new customers that allows product and service information to be communicated and strategic information to be gathered.
  • Working closely with Customer Service Engineers in the region to ensure consistent service to customers

Key Responsibilities

  • Competes for all sales opportunities within the region
  • Builds and maintains relationships with customers
  • Constantly attempts to secure business in new accounts
  • Gains knowledge of customer funding and procurement procedures
  • Develops and  maintains the Salesforce.com customer/prospect records
  • Attends seminars, exhibitions and demonstrations to promote business
  • Maintains knowledge of products and prepares, collects and maintains presentation aids.
  • Maintains knowledge of competitors products
  • Completes weekly planners & business forecasts

Qualifications

  • A completed BSc degree in Chemistry or a related discipline orNational Diploma in Analytical Chemistry                                    
  • Be fluent in both written and verbal English.
  • Be a South African citizen.

Experience

Preferred:

  • 2 - 5 Years proven sales experience within the laboratory instrumentation field

  • Background in Electronics and/or Chemistry preferably gained in a high technology sales environment

  • An understanding of analytical and clinical instrument applications and a working knowledge of the following instruments will be advantageous:

  • Mass Spectrometry - GC/MS, LC/MS, TOF/MS, GC/MS/MS, ICP-MS;
  • Molecular Spectroscopy - UV, UV/Vis, FT-IR, FT-NIR; Atomic Spectroscopy - AA, ICP-OES, or ICP-MS;
  • Chromatography - GC, GC custom, GC/MS, LC/MS, HPLC/UHPLC;
  • Thermal and Elemental Analysis – DTA, DSC, TGA, TMA and DMA;
  • Hyphenated Systems – TGA/IR, TGA/MS, TGA/GC-MS           

2 - 5 Years proven sales experience within the laboratory instrumentation field

Background in Electronics and/or Chemistry preferably gained in a high technology sales environment

An understanding of analytical and clinical instrument applications and a working knowledge of the following instruments will be advantageous:

We will also consider applicants currently working in the lab with some of these instruments who are looking for a career change into sales.  Full sales training will be provided for candidates with a genuine interest in sales.

Personal requirements:

  • Good presentation, communication, inter-personal and negotiation skills
  • Numerate and competent with detail and analysis
  • Prepared to travel occasionally throughout Southern Africa and Overseas.
  • Valid Driving licence and Passport
