What You'll Do
Hardware Upgrades and Optimization: The primary responsibility of the Manufacturing Engineering Technician will be to execute hardware upgrades on our Tabless machines, aiming to enhance Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) by improving availability, yield, and rate. You'll follow a detailed checklist to guide your work, while also being empowered to refine and optimize the process throughout the project rollout. This approach will help maximize efficiency, reduce downtime, and ensure the upgrades deliver the anticipated benefits
Production Engineering Support: Partner with Production Engineers to ensure safe and efficient operation of production lines, maintaining high-quality output. Proactively identify and resolve issues, propose effective solutions, and drive engineering improvements to achieve and exceed production targets
Process Optimization: Debug and optimize automated processes to enhance cycle times and Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE). Troubleshoot using PLC, HMI, or tool management software and implement improvements. Provide hands-on support to operations and maintenance teams, troubleshoot extended downtime, and manage critical spare parts to minimize disruptions
Documentation and Training: Develop operating procedures, training materials, and maintenance routines. Assemble and test manufactured goods, conduct analytical tests, and record and interpret data using established tools and software. Conduct hands-on training with on-shift technical resources to improve the knowledge and skillset of the entire cross-functional team
Equipment Development and Support: Assist in the development, commissioning, and scaling of custom high-speed automated manufacturing equipment. Handle setup, operation, adjustments, and maintenance tasks to ensure equipment meets safety, quality, and efficiency standards during development and commissioning
What You'll Bring
Experience: 3+ years of hands-on experience with manufacturing equipment, including root cause analysis and problem resolution in a high-volume, dynamic environment
Technical Skills: Proficient in metalworking and fabrication (band saws, grinders, mills, lathes), and knowledgeable in hand and power tools, as well as pneumatic equipment. Experience with low voltage systems, basic electrical tools (digital multi-meter, meg-ohm tester, thermocouple meters), and wiring is essential
Data Management: Skilled in using technological tools and business systems for data management, analysis, and interpretation. Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and a structured, data-driven approach to problem-solving
Battery Cell Technology: Familiarity with battery cell technology and equipment is a plus
Communication: Strong command of the English language, both written and verbal
Essential Physical Demands:
Hands-On Aptitude: Strong manual dexterity and visual acuity for detailed assembly and disassembly tasks. Ability to lift and handle parts weighing up to 20 pounds
