We’re searching for a masterful marketer to help us tell the story of Medium to the world — from our brand, to our product, to our writers, to our stories.To strengthen our relationship with our audiences, we are building world-class lifecycle email programs. Our marketing team is looking for a specialist to help plan, execute, and analyze email campaigns.

You will be responsible for supporting the project management and execution of lifecycle email campaigns. You’ll support acquisition, engagement, and retention efforts and have a direct impact on critical metrics. This is an exciting opportunity to build something new and learn from a team that values initiative, design thinking, and growth. You have an email background, have experience supporting marketing and content campaigns, and believe in Medium’s mission. Building high performing email programs truly blends art and science.

What will you do?

  • Own the execution of email campaigns, collaborating with editorial, design, product, and engineering teams.
  • Support the development of Medium’s lifecycle strategy, using awareness, acquisition and retention programs, to drive return on investment and contribute to the company’s growth.
  • Amplify content distribution and brainstorm creative concepts to reach specific audiences and verticals.
  • Develop campaigns to engage readers and writers based on A/B testing at various levels: creative, content, email triggers, audience segmentation, user journey, etc.
  • Lead team processes and ensure project launches and deadlines.
  • Share results based on findings, trends and best practices.Provide analysis on campaigns, along with recommendation and test plans to improve performance over time.

What are we looking for?

  • At least 2 years hands-on email marketing experience in tech e-commerce, or subscription business. Media-related experience is a strong plus.
  • BS/BA degree required.
  • Strong analytical skills and knowledge of digital marketing tools with a test and learn mindset.
  • Excellent written communication skills and attention to detail.
  • Highly cross-functional-willing to help build processes and communication across teams.
  • Highly adaptable and comfortable with change and ambiguity.
  • Willing to pivot focus quickly as new needs arise.
  • Passion and hunger for longform content, newsletters, and innovative media.
  • Experience working with various ESPs is a bonus.
  • Experience in HTML and CSS, Sketch and Photoshop are strong plus.
