Job Description

The University of Nevada, Reno is recruiting for an Administrative Assistant 3 for The Northern Nevada International Center. ***This position does not provide layoff rights and is contingent upon funding. This position will provide a full range of housing services to refugees, support resettlement experience, setup housing for refugees, arrange logistics of home set-ups, visit apartment complexes, ensure housing meets minimum standard, support Case Manager, plan temporary housing, and update housing resource tracking sheet. This position will aids newly arrived refugees to ensure the best possible initial resettlement experience and the achievement of client self-sufficiency. This position will conduct outreach with landlords, build strong working relationships with landlords and housing agencies, research section 8, coordinate home repair requests, and keep updated on housing status. This position will ensure accuracy on client case files, ensure lease terms are understood, and provide periodic inspections. This position will provide all case file documentation, complete pre-arrival documentation, ensure compliance, and communicate with US Tied. This position will attend trainings and meetings, provide update to Executive Director, share best practices, maintain current knowledge of Refugee Cash Assistance and Temporary Assistance for Needy Families, and any other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • This position requires graduation from high school or equivalent education and three (3) years of progressively responsible relevant work experience which included experience in one or more of the following areas: maintenance of complex records and files; public/customer relations including explaining detailed policies, regulations and requirements; preparation and processing of financial and statistical documents such as payroll, travel, claims and budgeting forms; and assisting staff and management with projects and activities; OR
  • One (1) year of experience as an Administrative Assistant II in Nevada State service; OR
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience as described above

A valid Class “C” Nevada driver’s license or higher operator’s license is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment.

Preferred Qualifications

Candidates that have professional experience working with rental properties and or landlords are encouraged to apply.

Schedule

The typical work schedule is Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm; this is subject to change based on organizational needs.

Compensation Grade

Grade 27

In classified service, salary is in Grade and Step. The Step is determined based on the Nevada Administrative Code. Salary placement above a Step 01 at initial appointment is determined based on the recruitment, the candidate’s qualifications, internal equity and budgets. A request to accelerate salary must be approved by Human Resources and abide by the Nevada Administrative Code.
