Technical Program Manager, Cell Manufacturing Capacity Modeling

Tesla

What To Expect

Tesla’s Cell Engineering team is looking for a Technical Program Manager to play a pivotal role in accelerating the global expansion of our 4680 cell manufacturing capacity. This is a mission-critical position at the heart of Tesla’s cell manufacturing team, you will design, build, and maintain the global capacity model that powers strategic decisions for Tesla cell production globally. Your insights will directly influence how quickly we bring high-performance, low-cost batteries to market.

This is a high-impact, fast-paced role for a data-driven innovator who thrives at the intersection of manufacturing execution, strategic planning, and cross-functional leadership. You’ll be the analytical backbone behind our ability to scale cell production with precision, agility, and foresight, turning complex manufacturing data into clear, actionable strategies for executive leadership.

What You'll Do

Design and maintain a unified, end-to-end global manufacturing capacity model for the 4680 cell process (Electrode → Winding → Formation), ensuring consistency, accuracy, and alignment across all shops and sites

Deep dive into production assumptions (yield, line speed, equipment availability, cycle time) to identify risks, bottlenecks, and optimization opportunities, transforming raw data into strategic recommendations

Benchmark and compare capacity models across processes, regions, and sites; deliver concise, executive-ready summaries that drive investment, site expansion, and operational decisions

Lead the identification of when, where, and how to expand capacity—balancing material supply constraints, customer demand forecasts, and technical feasibility

Track and analyze real-time production performance (build attainment, yield, availability) vs. projections, surface trends, variances, and root causes across sites for rapid escalation and resolution

Proactively respond to disruptions—such as material shortages, process delays, or multi-variant production challenges—by driving rapid solutions and maintaining production commitments

Serve as the central coordination point between local production planners, global operations, supply chain, and engineering teams, ensuring seamless flow of build plan changes from site to supplier and downstream consumers

What You'll Bring

Degree in Engineering OR equivalent experience and evidence of exceptional ability

Mastery of large-scale data management—deep proficiency in Microsoft Excel (advanced formulas, macros, data modeling) and/or experience with database tools (SQL, Power BI, etc.)

Proven experience in capacity modeling, production planning, or supply chain analytics preferred, ideally in high-volume manufacturing environments

Exceptional analytical mindset with the ability to synthesize large, complex datasets into clear insights and persuasive recommendations for leadership

Demonstrated ability to thrive under pressure, manage competing priorities, and deliver high-quality results with tight deadlines and minimal handholding

Outstanding communication and presentation skills

Meticulous, organized, and disciplined in documentation, tracking, and process ownership

High energy, collaborative, and influential, able to lead without authority, build consensus, and drive alignment across global teams
