What To Expect

The Field Reliability team’s mission is to determine root cause and contributing factors to improve the experience of Tesla’s products by reducing field issues, in collaboration with a community of other engineering teams. Engineers and Technicians on the team are responsible for a wide variety of cell types and characterizing the various ways they can fail. This high visibility management role requires intimate knowledge of lab workflows with a focus on failure mechanisms.

In this role, you will oversee daily lab operations, ensuring safety and efficiency in high-volume failure analysis. You will manage technicians, prioritize workflow to meet QA/QC deadlines, and coordinate with engineering teams to escalate critical findings. This role requires strong leadership and organizational qualities, along with enforcing accountability within the team.

What You'll Do

Lead a shift team of failure analysis Engineering Technicians in daily lab workflows and project management

Provide hands-on support alongside Engineering Technicians to complete failure analysis

Take on continuous improvement projects within the workspaces to improve workflow efficiency and culture

Enforce compliance to all EHS policies and 5S/workplace hygiene standards across their shift

Work directly with Management and Engineering to support method development, drafting Standard Operating Procedures for new methods and maintaining upkeep of SOPs relevant to the team

Train and onboard new Engineers and Engineering Technicians to perform various operations

What You'll Bring

2+ years of Failure Analysis experience

Prior leadership experience, battery industry preferred

Strong organizational and conflict-resolution skills

Excellent problem-solving, project management, and cross-functional collaboration skills

Comfortable working with chemicals and hazardous materials in a laboratory environment

Excellent written and verbal communication skills required

Expected Compensation

$120,800 - $211,200/annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefits

Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered.
