Why does the job exist?

The Social & Community Services Coordinator - Advanced/Forensics Program Coordinator will:

  • Communicate HSD's Vision of Every New Mexican has access to affordable health care coverage through a coordinated and seamless health care system and HSD's Mission of making New Mexico healthy;
  • Oversee the financial aspects of the program, including budget allocation, tracking expenditures, and preparing financial reports;
  • Provide administrative and operational management, compliance monitoring, coordination with service providers, and progress reporting.;
  • Conduct on-site visits to evaluate the quality of forensic services, ensure adherence to standards, and identify areas for enhancement.

How does it get done?

The Social & Community Services Coordinator - Advanced / Forensics Program Coordinator is responsible for:

  • Establishing and maintaining of processes to uphold the quality of competency evaluations;
  • Collaborating with court psychiatrists and counselors to ensure alignment of submitted invoices with service contracts;
  • Providing guidance in forensic services to enhance service delivery and address technical issues;
  • Supporting Justice System-related initiatives, including collaboration with stakeholders, offering technical assistance, and contributing to the development and implementation of programs to improve the Justice System's response to behavioral health issues.

  • The Behavioral Health Services Division (BHSD);
  • State entities and NM Courts;
  • Behavioral Health Providers.

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate has:

  • Knowledge of the New Mexico Behavioral Health System and public health programs;
  • Experience working with New Mexico Courts and public safety programs;
  • Excellent written and verbal skills;
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment with state agencies and stakeholders;
  • Excellent critical thinking and analytic skills.

Minimum Qualification

Bachelor's Degree in Social Work, Psychology, Guidance and Counseling, Education, Sociology, Criminal Justice, Criminology and/or Family Studies/Services and four (4) years of any combination of experience including working with communities, working on health or social service related matters, social work/case management experience, behavioral health and/or health care. Must possess and maintain a valid Driver's License.

Working Conditions

Work is performed in an office setting: late hours and weekends work may be required. Will be exposed to regular periods of video display terminal and keyboard usage and stressful situations. Travel may be required. Incumbent will work under stress and frequent time constraints. Must have own mode of transportation. Incumbent may be required to furnish a personal vehicle for carrying out assignments.
