Job Summary and Mission

This job contributes to Starbucks success by leading strategic retail licensing (“franchised”) partnerships with leading grocers.  This general management role is responsible for partnership strategy, relationship management and Starbucks program implementation.  Responsibilities include creating strategies, developing executive-level relationships, leading cross-functional teams, program management and negotiations.  The national account executive will be highly capable of managing both the big picture and the details, working across multiple functional disciplines, and connecting at all organizational levels to create long-term value and deliver day-to-day results in a dynamic environment. 

Summary of Key Responsibilities

Responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following:

  • Build and maintain executive-level relationships with key strategic business partners to create long-term value 
  • Develop and implement joint business plans. Lead business reviews to drive focus, alignment and results
  • Guide store portfolio strategy, including site selection, design, renovations and closures
  • Lead internal cross-functional teams to facilitate effective communication between internal and external stakeholders, ensuring initiatives are fully-developed and implemented
  • Negotiate complex, multi-year master licensing agreements and foodservice contracts
  • Influence the development of marketing and product strategies.  Ensure programs are aligned with brand and enterprise objectives
  • Direct new program implementation and national account rollouts

Summary of Preferred Experience
  • Direct B2B sales experience at Fortune 500 companies (8+ years)
  • Key account relationship management at executive and top management levels (8+ years)
  • Franchise and/or licensing experience (5+ years)
  • National program management (5+ years)
  • Complex contract negotiations (5+ years)
  • Development and delivery of presentations to executive level audiences (8+ years)
  • 4-year Bachelor’s degree

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Extraordinary ability to build relationships both internally and externally
  • Ability to simplify and present complicated material in a concise and effective way
  • Strong negotiation skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities concurrently
  • Ability to work constructively in an ambiguous and dynamic environment
  • Working knowledge of business planning and financial management
  • Knowledge of hospitality, food service management, grocery, or consumer products industry
