Job Summary

The Sr. Financial Manager is the main finance leader, supporting the site’s General Manager and their leadership team. Through collaborating and influencing stakeholders across the business and all the finance Centers of Excellence, this role ensures profitable growth and value creation for the Gene Therapy Manufacturing business in the US.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Supporting decision making at the site leadership, ensuring financial targets are met while driving profitable value creating growth.
  • Developing and managing accurate monthly forecasting, annual budget preparation, and long-range financial plan; assuming full accounting budgetary responsibility for assigned business.
  • Preparing analysis of monthly, quarterly and annual financial results for business reviews, management reporting, budgeting and strategic planning.
  • In partnership with the Inventory COE, develop costing and inventory analytics aiming to drive decision making to improve margin.
  • Develop commercial analytics, such as customer performance, service line profitability and price/volume/mix. Partner with the commercial team to create analytics on the commercial pipeline aiming to ensure quarterly and yearly targets are met.
  • Educating internal leaders on budget management to support good understanding of their accountability and ownership.
  • Understanding ROI & payback associated with all material capital expenditures. Optimizing free cash, overseeing capital expenditure programs and projects (e.g., comprehensive Capital Expenditure Requisition (CER) review, tracking assigned CERs and resolving budgetary discrepancies). Accurately forecasting capital expenditures.
  • Working with Corporate Accounting COEs, Tax, and Internal Audit staff, ensuring company's adherence to corporate governance standards (e.g. Sarbanes-Oxley), pertinent regulatory requirements and accounting policies, practices and procedures.
  • Participate actively in the Global Manufacturing Finance Leadership team, to promote an environment of strong engagement, transparent communication, accountability, and talent development.
  • Collaborating across sites, businesses, and Charles River affiliates to identify and leverage best practices

Job Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree (B.A./B.S.) or equivalent business or science degree
  • Experience: 8-10 years related experience and training. Experience in Life Science industry and/or manufacturing preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail, excellent analytical skills with recommendations grounded in data.
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Must be able to work with minimal supervision.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted as a satisfactory substitute for the specific education and experience listed above.

Physical Demands:

  • Regularly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, and computer printer.
  • Must occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.
  • Regularly provides information to and receives information from/through various technologies, media, sources and contacts. Must be able to accurately exchange accurate information in these situations.

Work Environment:

  • General office working conditions, the noise level in the work environment is usually quiet.
  • Travel to Rockville, MD required on a monthly basis.

Compensation Data

The pay range for this position is $140,000/yr. - $170,000/yr. Please note that salaries vary within the range based on factors including, but not limited to, experience, skills, education, certifications, and location.
