We are looking for a Regional Sales Manager, Northeast to join our team. This role will be responsible for managing the retail channel in the Northeast region of the country for regional accounts. Reporting to the Regional Account VP, the position exists to drive sales, build market share, and increase brand awareness while fostering long-term relationships with distributors, brokers, and key customers within the retail market.

Here are the things we want to hire you to do:

  • Partner with the VP, peers, broker, and distributor network to build out, implement, and drive our retail sales strategy for the Northeast retail channel across multiple categories
  • Build strong and credible relationships with your retailer partners, brokers, and distributors. Communicate effectively and timely
  • Build out long-term and short-term goals to ensure sales resources are utilized to deliver against the overall company strategy
  • Build and execute distribution targets and promotion plans that follow Oatly promotion and trade spend guidelines
  • Manage and deliver customer sales forecasts, distribution targets, profitability, and trade spend targets
  • Maintain organization and be knowledgeable on customer distribution, pricing, promotion, and retailer strategy. Communicate timely and effectively to internal teams directly and/or through trade planning system
  • Manage category review timelines for your channel and customers. Curate fact-based selling stories leveraging syndicated data sources, and all available selling resources. Effectively prepare, build, and execute sales presentations/category reviews to close gaps and sell in innovation
  • Evaluate and analyze the business using Nielsen, IRI, POS and shipment data in order to make recommendations and strategy adjustments
  • Work closely with brokers to execute goals that you create, while measuring and holding them accountable. Create a communication cadence for check-ins and schedule market visits in each region 1-2x per year
  • Participate in the Oatly annual planning process which will culminate in presenting your customer plans to the sales leadership team
  • Exhibit a collaborative mindset with peers and leadership on the retail sales team, while sharing best practices and being open to learning what you don’t know
  • Attend and manage regional and customer-specific trade shows with counterparts. Attend training sessions, company meetings and team meetings in person

Here are the things we think you need:

  • Minimum of 3+ years in retail sales/sales management / Grocery experience in the CPG industry
  • Reside in the Northeast, near a major airport
  • Prior experience calling on and managing customers such as Hannaford, Stop & Shop, Market Basket, Price Chopper, Tops and New York Metro distributors
  • A solid understanding of multiple distribution methods to get to customers; such as direct shipping and various 3rd party suppliers like UNFI / KeHE / C&S
  • Experience in working with and managing multiple brokers
  • Category management understanding and knowledge using syndicated data sources (SPINS, Nielsen, IRI) to support fact-based selling
  • Strong ability in PowerPoint and Excel and would consider yourself a data-savvy sales professional
  • Thorough understanding of trade math
  • You communicate and present clearly and effectively
  • An open mind and excitement to do things differently when the opportunity presents itself
  • Strong critical thinking, problem-solving skills and a desire to bring creative solutions to business opportunities
  • Passion for relationship building across team as well as with external broker partners, buyers, and distributors
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Motivated, proactive, enthusiastic and positive even during stressful times (we love what we do but not everyday is a walk in the park)
  • Ability to prioritize and manage time effectively, while thriving in a remote environment
  • Excitement to get into the market and travel for customer meetings, trade shows/conferences and market visits (estimated 50% travel time)

The salary for this role will be based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to geographic location, internal equity, experience, education, specialty, and training. Actual compensation is influenced by a wide array of factors including but not limited to skill set, level of experience, and specific location. Compensation may also include bonus, commission, or equity as applicable. For the state of California, Colorado, New York and Washington, our good faith estimate range will be $105,000 - $125,000.
