Role Description and Responsibilities
 
A key part of the EMEA Capital Policy Team, analysing and advising on current and future EMEA capital policy regulatory issues with a particular focus on the European regulatory rules contained in CRDIV. The role will involve leading on capital policy issues outside of the UK regulatory regime.
 
Advising on the prudential regime, interpreting aspects of the current framework and providing advice to internal stakeholders, along with the ability to engage with external advocacy efforts. Participation in the process for approving new business initiatives and determining their effect on our regional regulatory ‘footprint’ and complex transactions dealing with structuring teams.

  • Essential
    • Ability to understand and interpret complex rules frameworks
    • Ability to communicate clearly, and explain unfamiliar concepts or rules in simple, memorable terms; good written and oral presentation skills
    • Good task / project management skills and ability to work to tight deadlines
    • Gravitas to be able to deal with very senior staff in other areas of the firm (predominantly MD / ED level)
    • Excellent judgement and the ability to prioritise, focusing on the most important aspects of an issue
    • Collaborative approach to working within a team
    • Fluent in English and German
       
      Knowledge
       
  • Essential
    • Good working knowledge of the current EU capital regime, particularly as it applies to the investment banking business, including CRD IV
       
  • Desirable
    • Experience of providing policy advice
    • Knowledge of Pillar 1 and Pillar 2 aspects of the capital framework
    • Knowledge of the investment banking industries and products
    • Grasp of key aspects of new developments to the regime (CRR2)
    • Knowledge of the German and ECB legislation relating to capital policy
