We are seeking a highly motivated individual to join Brookfield Properties U.S. Office Division in Los Angeles, CA. This position will lead the Events team for California Market Center (CMC), which is the hub of the LA Fashion District in downtown LA. Role & Responsibilities:

The CMC Events Director is responsible for driving growth, exceeding sales targets, establishing and building relationships within the fashion & apparel industry, and implementing holistic marketing plans that increase awareness, generate buzz, and position the CMC as the hub of the Los Angeles Fashion Industry.

  • Develop 5-year business plan for CMC Events business, outlining strategic initiatives and revenue targets.
  • Oversee all Sales, Retail Relations, Operations, and Marketing initiatives for all CMC Events and Brookfield related projects as needed.
  • Develop an in-depth understanding of CMC’s peers and their marketing/advertising strategies. Track competitive marketing activity, conduct research on customer needs, and evolve CMC’s programs to be competitive in the market.
  • Track all expenses, oversee budgets and timelines, and oversee ongoing, quarterly, and annual financial reconciliations. Report appropriately and keep management apprised of significant variances or concerns.
  • Research and recommend new partners, sponsors, and opportunities to enhance CMC’s programs, outreach, and consumer base.
  • Collaborate with the CFA, the Fashion District BID, LATCB, and other regional marts to set and collaborate on LA Fashion Markets, outlining collaborative approaches to promote the Fashion District.
  • Lead the execution of all CMC self-produced trade shows from start to finish. Including complete ownership over the creative and sales processes, working directly with clients from around the world. Oversee all marketing and digital strategies, printed signage, attendee registration, activations, hospitality, and on-site operations.
  • Manage all third-party event sales by prospecting new clients, generating leads, drafting contracts, and closing deals.
  • Recommend systems that drive revenue, push data analysis and retrieval, and align the CMC as a leader in customer service.
  • Ability to easily pivot and work with property operations to assist in areas such as leasing, tenant engagement, and the launch of a newly reimagined creative campus.
  • Lead all Fashion Market related activities and buyer promotions, liaising directly with CMC Mart tenants.
  • Identify and implement marketing strategies that drive traffic and sales through an integrated approach that connects digital, print, advertising, social media, events, and PR.
  • Oversee all print and digital advertising including budget planning and reconciliation. 
  • Analyze data from marketing initiatives and identify KPIs.
  • Communicate marketing plans and results to management and internal partners on a regular basis.
  • Continuously mentor and develop staff.
  • Maintain a positive work atmosphere by acting and communicating in a manner suitable for interaction with customers, clients, colleagues, and management.

Your Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • 5-7 years’ full-time event and/or marketing experience. Will consider an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to develop long-term strategic plan, associated initiatives, goals and objectives.
  • Experience in management of projects, outside vendors and deadlines required.
  • Strong hands-on Events, Marketing, Buyer Relations, and Venue experience in the fashion/apparel industry.
  • Excellent communication and relationship building skills, both internal and external.
  • Exceptional Staff development and management skills.
  • Superb writing, editing and proofreading skills.
  • Excellent PC skills; advanced to expert in using: Photoshop, Illustrator, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint. Mac knowledge a plus.
  • Strong design sense.
  • Must be creative; offers a fresh prospective and new ideas; ability to think outside of the box.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Detail-oriented.
  • Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team.
  • Regular attendance on site is an essential function of this position. Must be able to work consistently as scheduled. This position is not eligible for telecommuting.

Compensation & Benefits:

Salary Type: Exempt

Pay Frequency: Bi-weekly

Annual Base Salary Range: $130,000 - $145,000

Medical & Pharmacy Coverage: Yes, under Brookfield Medical Plan

Dental Coverage: Yes, under Brookfield Medical Plan

Vision Coverage: Yes, under Brookfield Medical Plan

Retirement: 401(k)

Insurance: Employer-paid life & short/long term disability
