The Role 

We are seeking an accomplished and innovative Senior Economy Designer to join our game development team. As a pivotal member of our design department, you will be responsible for shaping the in-game economy, ensuring balance, player engagement, and overall economic systems that contribute to a rewarding player experience.

Responsibilities 

  • Develop and implement robust in-game economies that align with the overall game design and monetization strategy. Balance virtual economies to ensure player progression, retention, and a fair play experience.
  • Collaborate with the product team to integrate effective and player-friendly monetization features within the game economy. Implement strategies that strike a balance between player satisfaction and revenue generation.
  • Utilize analytics tools to gather and interpret player data, making data-driven decisions to optimize the in-game economy. Regularly analyze economic trends, player behavior, and feedback to inform adjustments and improvements.
  • Work closely with other designers to integrate economic systems seamlessly with game features, ensuring a cohesive and enjoyable player experience. Implement and refine virtual goods, currencies, and progression systems.
  • Create comprehensive documentation outlining the design and mechanics of the in-game economy. Collaborate with other designers to ensure consistency between economy design and overall game design.
  • Gather and analyze player feedback related to the in-game economy, iterating on designs to address player concerns and enhance satisfaction.

Requirements 

  • 8+ years of relevant experience as a Game Designer, with a proven track record as an Economy Designer. 
  • In-depth knowledge of free-to-play and monetization models in the gaming industry. 
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills with the ability to interpret player behavior data. 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and has the ability to clearly articulate economic designs and concepts to cross-functional teams.
  • Strong sense of what makes a fun and compelling game system
  • Passionate and knowledgeable about games with deep experiences across a wide range of games and genres

The ideal candidate will also have 

  • Demonstrable portfolio showcasing successful implementation of in-game economies
  • Experience working as a supervisor or mentor
