What To Expect

Tesla has an immediate opening for an Engineering Manager to join the Production Engineering team at the Semi Factory in Sparks, NV. We are seeking an energetic, skilled, cost-conscious, team-oriented individual to be responsible for the performance of an Equipment and Process Engineering team. The team will drive OEE improvements through documented actions with clear due dates and expected results. The candidate will generate the highest value from every employee while maintaining a high level of technical ability.

What You'll Do

Tesla people leaders are responsible for a variety of Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) assurance functions, including ensuring their teams’ safety training is current, documenting EHS incidents, proactively correcting workplace hazards in the areas, and empowering others to continuously improve operations

Clearly define expectations for the engineering team which improve overall production line performance

Use data driven approach to drive OEE improvements

Utilize lean manufacturing principles to reduce scrap from different sources

Innovate processes and procedures to streamline production activities

Push the team to adhere to strict 5S standards and maintain cleanliness on the floor and within automation cells

Collaborate with manufacturing engineering and controls teams to install and troubleshoot new processes during installation, startup, and hand over, then improve preventative maintenance activities to decrease overall downtime

What You'll Bring

Degree in Engineering, or equivalent experience

Experience leading teams within automated, high volume manufacturing facilities, including but not limited to assembly, robotics, etc.

Exemplary track record of high impact contributions both as an individual engineer and in a management capacity

Hands on experience with lean manufacturing principles

Demonstrated ability to meet commitments and deliver results in a fast-paced technical manufacturing environment

Ability to manage and execute multiple large-scale projects simultaneously, dynamically adjusting priorities to meet changing business needs

Experience with application and teaching of structured problem-solving methodology, such as DOE, root cause analysis, etc.

Experience with mechanical, automation, and controls engineering; Understanding of equipment component behavior and general manufacturing processes, automation, and controls

Experience working in heavy trucking manufacturing, preferred

Must be adaptable in work schedule (including compressed work week and night shift) and working environment
