Overview

IT Infrastructure Engineers are members of the Global Infrastructure team that are responsible for delivering network support for the Viad family of companies. People in this role are responsible for ensuring business continuity by demonstrating strong skillsets, team-spirited personalities, and dedicated work ethics to deliver business goals both independently and collaboratively.

Responsibilities

  • Install, maintain, upgrade, and continuously improve the company's networking infrastructure.
  • Maintain the ongoing reliability, performance, and support of the network infrastructure.
  • Communicates network security vulnerabilities and solutions to the network security supervisor pertaining to application security, communications, and performance issues, and modifies network security implementations as required to ensure proper operation of applications.
  • Ensure all work activities are documented and tracked for auditing purposes, this includes the use of ticketing platforms and Request for Change (RFC) mandates to mitigate risk to the environment.
  • Ability to independently diagnose, identify, report, and remediate complex networking problems quickly and accurately.
  • Provide robust networking solutions to stakeholders, IT teams and leadership within the organization.
  • Operate with high levels of communication skills to provide helpful, friendly, and well explained solutions.
  • Assist in information security audits, ensuring the technical compliance with related regulatory requirements. (e.g. SOX, GDPR, PCI)
  • Validates and monitors process compliance.
  • Perform repeatable tasks using automation capabilities.
  • Analyzes and implements network software or hardware changes.
  • Establishes WAN, LAN, Wireless device profiles, device environments, directories, and security for networks being installed.
  • Analyzes and resolves issues related to facilities bandwidth requirements and capacity planning.
  • Performs related duties and responsibilities as required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field of study or equivalent work experience.
  • Typically requires 3-5 years of relevant experience deploying and/or administrating network infrastructure solutions.
  • Working knowledge of networking components (including Cisco, VMWare and Azure Networking).
  • Strong understanding of data handling requirements with the highest degree of confidentiality and discretion.
  • Enthusiasm for learning new things and ability to pick up new ideas quickly.
  • Work under pressure and meet deadlines individually and collaboratively.
  • Prioritize multiple tasks and switch between tasks quickly.
  • Exercise independent judgment and discretion when dealing with network impacting events, particularly during off hours when management personnel may not be available to provide direction or feedback.
  • Strong understanding of automation and how automation technologies should be leveraged to provide efficient work efforts for repeatable processes.
  • Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, to interact with team members, customers, management, and support personnel (technical and non-technical).
  • Think logically, assess problems, and be results-oriented.

DESIRABLE:

  • One or more certifications within a relevant networking technology and/or process.
  • Experience with project management in an IT environment.
  • Knowledge of various operating systems including but not limited to Windows, Unix, Apple and virtualization technologies; network switches, routers and firewalls; and building scripts, tools, or methodologies using PowerShell, BASH, Nessus, Nmap, tcpdump, etc.
  • Experience planning, researching, and developing security policies, standards, and procedures.
  • TCP/IP Protocols, network analysis, and network/security applications.
  • Pertinent federal, state, and local laws, codes, regulations.
  • Working knowledge in conducting host forensics, network forensics, log analysis, and malware triage in support of incident response investigations.
  • Scripting/Automation experience across one or more modern scripting languages.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.
