Overview

At Houston Methodist, the Sr. Videographer/Photographer/Editor is responsible for leading selected projects and providing guidance on projects to more junior videographers/photographers/editors. Also serves as a role model and mentor to more junior team members. This role is also responsible for shooting and/or editing more complex video and photography for projects that support and communicate Houston Methodist's mission, values and brand. As part of this role, the incumbent will work as one or more of the following on most projects: video editor, photo editor, motion graphics artist, teleprompter operator, sound engineer, videographer, and/or photographer. While the primary responsibility is to shoot and edit video and photos for Houston Methodist Hospital corporate marketing, communications, and public relations, the Sr. Videographer/Photographer Editor will also lead and work on projects for other Houston Methodist departments and entities as needed. The primary responsibility of this role will be either leading the editing or the shooting of videographer/photographer projects as determined by department need.

Responsibilities

PEOPLE ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Serves as the primary resource/subject matter expert to other videographers in shooting and editing of videos and photographs that meet or exceed specific target objectives
  • Independently interacts and collaborates frequently with high-level Houston Methodist executives, board members, department chairs, physicians, directors and managers during video/photo shoots; displays highest level of professionalism during such interactions
  • Interacts with patients showing compassion and sensitivity; ensures the integrity of the patients' stories
  • Trains and mentors more junior team members to ensure quality deliverables, and works with and guides outside vendors, when needed

SERVICE ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Provides creative input as to execution of projects and frequently serves as lead on selected projects and independently edits and shoots videos and photographs that meet or exceed specific target objectives and advance the goals of the client and Houston Methodist
  • Provides/distributes videos and photographs produced in specified formats to colleagues, physicians and staff in response to requests and project requirements
  • Provides creative approval as needed for internal and outsourced projects, ensuring they are of sufficient quality and within Houston Methodist's brand standard

QUALITY/SAFETY ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Reviews the work of other videographers and ensures a high level of quality for visual assets
  • Serves as a brand ambassador, ensuring visual assets adhere to and advance brand standard
  • Protects patient privacy by obtaining written consent and ensures final products do not display protected patient information and identity

  • Maximizes productivity and quality in order to minimize need for outside vendors.

GROWTH/INNOVATION ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Proactively finds solutions to technical, creative, and process challenges
  • Creates and edits unique and creative visual assets that maximize audience engagement while leveraging traditional techniques
  • Seeks out and applies new and current knowledge of visual media and technology and techniques; encourages other videographers to enhance knowledge and techniques

Qualifications

EDUCATION

  • Bachelor's degree in Radio-Television-Film or related field required. Related field to include Digital Media, Photography, Journalism, Media Production/Arts, Broadcasting or Communications.

WORK EXPERIENCE

  • With bachelor's degree, 5 years experience in videography, photography or video/photography editing is required
  • In lieu of Bachelor's degree, 8 years experience in videography, photography or video/photography editing is required.

License/Certification
