Manager, iOS Software Engineering – E-commerce at Taco Bell

About the Job 

As a Manager of iOS Software Engineering – Ecommerce at Taco Bell, a hands-on leadership role, you will manage, mentor, and grow a team of talented software engineers who specialize in building iOS applications that create engaging digital experiences for our customers. You will also collaborate with product management, design, and other engineering teams to deliver major technology initiatives on clear timelines. Agile software development in a product-mode organization fosters a culture of technical excellence, collaboration, and innovation. 

About You 

You are an experienced software engineering leader with a strong background in iOS development, having been an accomplished iOS architect/developer. You have at least 8+ years of experience working in people leadership capacities in software engineering, with specific experience leading teams building high-traffic, customer-facing iOS applications. You have proven experience in leading a large-scale project to build a new e-commerce app from scratch, including reimagining the app’s user experience, redesigning the app’s architecture, and refactoring the app’s codebase using the latest technologies and best practices. You will use your architect mindset, technical expertise, and problem-solving skills to lead the charge and overcome any challenges along the way. 

You can clearly articulate proven experience in setting up and streamlining the CI/CD pipeline, ensuring code quality and performance, and providing feedback and guidance to your team. You will use your leadership skills, communication skills, and emotional intelligence to create a positive and productive team culture. 

You have a deep knowledge of Swift, UIKit, SwiftUI, Combine, Core Data, and other iOS frameworks and technologies. You have hands-on experience with AWS-managed services and serverless technologies. You care about code quality, design, and efficiency, and you use best practices such as code reviews, testing, continuous integration, and continuous delivery. 

You are also a great communicator and collaborator. You can work closely with cross-functional teams to align technical decisions with business objectives and effectively communicate complex concepts. You have a proven ability to attract top talent, build high-performing teams, and foster a collaborative and inclusive culture. 

You are also curious and passionate about learning new things. You are continuously updated with the latest industry trends and emerging technologies, and you actively seek opportunities for self-improvement and driving innovation. 

What does the first 12 months look like? 

  • In the first 6 months, you will focus on leading the large refactoring of the existing app’s codebase using Swift, UIKit, SwiftUI, Combine, Core Data, etc. You will also work on redesigning the app’s architecture using AWS Lambda and other serverless technologies. You will also set up the CI/CD pipeline using tools such as Git, Xcode, Fastlane, etc. 
  • In the next 6 months, you will focus on reimagining the app’s user experience using design thinking principles and user feedback. You will also work on implementing new features and functionalities that enhance the app’s value proposition and customer satisfaction. You will also monitor and optimize the app’s performance and scalability using tools such as CloudWatch, Firebase, etc. 
  • By the end of the year, you will have successfully delivered a new e-commerce app for Taco Bell that not only meets but exceeds the expectations of the stakeholders and customers. You will also have grown and elevated your team to achieve excellence in iOS development. 

The Day-to-Day:

  • Manage, mentor, and grow a team of talented software engineers, specializing in building customer-facing iOS applications.
  • Understand and practice agile software development in a product-mode organization.
  • Lead delivery of major technology initiatives on clear timelines
  • Work closely with product management to manage scope and deliverables.
  • Participate in communities of practice to foster technical excellence throughout the organization.
  • Collaborate with recruiting to lead recruiting efforts and shape the future of our software engineering organization.

Is This You?

  • BS degree in Computer Science or a related field or equivalent years of experience.
  • At least 8+ years of experience working in leadership capacities in software engineering, with specific experience leading teams building high-traffic, customer-facing iOS applications.
  • Experience with AWS managed services and serverless technologies is preferred.
  • Strong collaboration skills, able to work closely with cross-functional teams to align technical decisions with business objectives and effectively communicate complex concepts.
  • Proven ability to attract top talent, build high-performing teams, and foster a collaborative and inclusive culture.
  • Continuously updated with the latest industry trends and emerging technologies, actively seeking opportunities for self-improvement and driving innovation.

Salary Range: ­­$137,400 - $208,560 annually + bonus eligibility + equity (if applicable) + benefits
