This role is in BCG IT’s Knowledge Systems Group. The group partners with BCG’s Global Knowledge Services group to deliver and support both Knowledge’s own internal solutions and also their offerings to worldwide BCG, including BCG’s Knowledge Management & Collaboration systems. The group maintains an extensive portfolio of applications and technologies to deliver fully architected, robust and supportable solutions.
 
BCG’s Knowledge Services group is leading an extensive program to digitally transform knowledge management at BCG.  This program is designed to broadly address cultural, business, process and requisite technological advancements opportunities along the entire end-to-end knowledge life-cycle.

Basic Job Requirements

  • Collaborates with the Product Manager and Business Owner and directs development team members (internal or external) in writing prioritized technical requirements documentation, including scope definition and statement of work
  • In collaboration with designers, software architects, and security specialists, creates clear and complete information and software architecture, design, and specification documentation
  • Directs vendors and QA specialists in writing test and quality control plans
  • Work with experience design and oversee the formation of a compelling user experience and prototypes for testing purposes
  • Build and manage multi-discipline teams to develop, build and test new products, and services
  • Design operational processes, service level agreements and interface requirements for product
  • Contribute to the planning and scoping of innovation, development and design projects
  • Leads quality control tests and keeps logs of problems, issues, changes, and future enhancements during the different phases of the development cycle

Job Responsibilities

BCG is building a new Agile Development team to support our Knowledge Management function.  The IT Sr. Development Manager will report to the Global IT Director of Knowledge Systems Architecture & Development and will lead the Knowledge Systems development team supporting the program.  

  • Leads Agile Delivery team to ensure quality and on-time delivery, making technical recommendations to the product's functional owner when appropriate, and taking stakeholder input to come up with creative solutions with very high commercial quality results
  • Technical product management of Knowledge Systems applications, services and assets
  • Manage and track product backlog by working with Product Owner in prioritizing customer feedback, bug fixes and the feature roadmap to rapidly iterate the product
  • Oversee all aspects of project execution, holding scrum masters and project managers accountable
  • Instructs and directs the software development team through all phases of the SDLC, formulating and defining system scope, integration requirements, and objectives based on user defined needs
  • Adopt a lean and agile approach to product development and delivery
  • Coordinate efforts with engineering team members and create the detailed sprint and testing plans
  • Manages stakeholder's expectations while building credibility with senior stakeholders through a strong business sense
  • Establish the service delivery culture for the Knowledge Systems development team, building best-in class service engineering capabilities to create a DevOps culture and capability supporting ongoing and new software development activities.

 

  • Define and drive processes to build sustainable environment solutions to support DevOps processes and CI/CD.
  • Develop and maintain platform services and tooling to provide event logging, metrics monitoring and other backend services.
  • Deliver stable, healthy infrastructure to delivery teams and facilitate knowledge transfer by providing comprehensive and detailed design documentation, infrastructure readiness documentation and acceptance checklists.
  • Drive continuity between environments to increase test validity
  • Define roadmaps for delivering ongoing improvements to the DevOps capability
  • Establish a culture of high performance, transparency and continuous improvement as it relates to the production support of BCG services and streamlining of the development pipeline.
  • Deploys, tests, and works with the software development and QA team to enhance products, collaborating with vendors when appropriate
