What is the job about?

The Associate Quality Engineer responsibility is to ensure that our products meet the highest quality standards. This role involves monitoring and implementing process improvements to ensure compliance with specifications, process requirements, and customer needs. You'll be responsible for ensuring efficient and effective operations by monitoring performance indicators such as scrap and first-time-through (FTT) quality. Additionally, you'll oversee the quality of products shipped to customers and implement effective solutions to address complaints.

This position reports directly to the Sr. Quality Manager and will operate daily out of the San Luis Potosí, MX facility. Relocation for this position cannot be supported and qualified candidates must have authorization to work in Mexico without support.

Your main responsibilities:

  • Establishing in-process controls to ensure ongoing compliance with customer and process specifications and requirements.
  • Participating in the definition of measurement and test equipment for new projects.
  • Monitoring and reporting quality indicators for each process.
  • Implementing quality tools to ensure continuous improvement of processes and product.
  • Identifying, solving, and documenting quality problems in a timely manner to avoid recurrence.
  • Performing layered (LPA) and process audits, and coordinating multidisciplinary teams focused on improving quality indicators.
  • Promoting a quality culture with a customer focus at all levels.
  • Effectively supporting customer complaints and establishing, maintaining, and standardizing visual acceptance criteria and rejection in production areas and with customers.
  • Ensuring compliance to certification requirements, such as UL, CSA, IAPMO, etc. (if applicable).
  • Monitoring, implementing, and maintaining IMS processes and actively participating in VPC.
  • Establishing corrective and preventive actions when required and ensuring proper handling of non-conforming product.
  • Conducting continuous quality training of operators and developing and improving FMEA and Control Plans.
  • Establishing preventive actions focused on quality and participating and collaborating in health, safety, and environmental objectives, programs, and procedures.
  • Following up, training, and coaching in QRQC at line and APU level and being a facilitator of the same.
  • Facilitating STOP Scrap activities to reduce waste

Your background

We imagine that you have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering and at least 2 years of experience in a similar position in the metal-mechanical industry.
  • Knowledge of core tools including PPAP, FMEA, SPC, MSA, Control Plan, and DOE.
  • Proficiency in problem solving tools such as 8D's, A3, QRQC, FTA, and more.
  • Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles.
  • Experience with ISO 9001 or IATF:16949 Internal Auditor.
  • Competency in Microsoft Office and blueprint interpretation.
  • Ability to handle basic measuring equipment such as calipers, micrometers, thickness gauges, and more.
