Description

The Content Marketing Specialist, Editorial is responsible for developing content, such as blogs, articles, and thought leadership papers, in support of the overall editorial calendar for Tyler Technologies. They will leverage key corporate messages and trending public sector themes in content for both corporate marketing and vertical marketing teams. They adhere to editorial style guides and help strategize around content syndication, working across the marketing organization to deliver inbound marketing messages that expand our reach. Their excellent, well-written content will be used in multiple marketing channels such as print, digital, social media, and multimedia. They will work with thought leaders within Tyler and our client base, amplifying the impact by contributing to the Tyler Blog and fostering editorial opportunities with Tyler’s association and media partners. 

Responsibilities

  • Create content in support of the overall Tyler Technologies editorial calendar
  • Understand and leverage industry themes and implement them throughout our Tyler content
  • Collaborate across corporate and vertical marketing to deliver effective content in support of our marketing and editorial plan to meet the business objectives
  • Adhere to and implement editorial style guides consistent with our brand voice, style, and tone
  • Elevate our thought leaders — internal, external, and clients — to amplify our voice in the market
  • Collaborate with designers and communication professionals to produce high quality content
  • Edit, proofread, and improve content with strong adherence to the AP Style Guide
  • Repurpose content from within Tyler to amplify through associations and other media outlets
  • Create well-written, well-structured content optimized for inbound content marketing strategies for both print and digital channels based on the content marketing strategies
  • Edit content pieces delivered by other content creators

Qualifications

The Content Marketing Specialist, Editorial must first and foremost have outstanding writing skills and excellent command of grammar and AP Style. They must be detail oriented, able to manage multiple projects simultaneously, generate new creative ideas, and have an intellectual curiosity around how governments at all levels can solve problems and improve lives. 

They must be able to collaborate across multiple product vertical field teams and corporate functions, work with shared services professionals, engage with multiple team members, and be able to prioritize multiple competing program goals. 

  • 1-5 years of demonstrable Content Marketing, writing, or equivalent working experience
  • BA/BS degree in Marketing, Journalism, Political Science, or other relevant degree
  • Experience creating content for the web and growing a social audience preferred
  • Editorial mindset that seeks to understand what audiences consume and how to create it
  • Ability to analyze and present content and social performance
  • Project management skills, and strong attention to detail
  • Understanding of how to manage the priorities of multiple stakeholders in a complex environment and focus on the delivery of results
  • Excellent communication and outstanding writing skills, both short and long form
  • Understanding of basic SEO strategies, content categorization and structure, content development, distribution, and measurement a plus
  • Knowledge of and interest in public sector and the intersection between technology and policy
