Position Summary:

Primary purpose of the full-time Software Test Technician I is to perform software system tests, record the behavior, and report the results for both customer owned, and Harman owned product. This is an ideal position for a currently enrolled college student pursueing a degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science or even a recent graduate in one of those majors. You’ll get real world experience while still in school!

 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Perform software testing of assigned products according to required standards and specifications.  Interpret customer complaint into testable performance criteria.
  • Maintain detailed documentation of test cases, test data and results along with reporting failure information to appropriate departments of the company.
  • Keep abreast of products, using published change notice reports and Engineering Change Notices (ECN) provided by supervisor in order to revise or update products as necessary.
  • The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, and climb or balance.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee frequently works near moving mechanical parts.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear.
  • The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles and risk of electrical shock, but exposure is within OSHA's standard requirements.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Two year technical diploma or a High School Diploma or equivalent, and currently pursuing a four year degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science
  • Ability to read schematics, use service manuals, follow test procedures, and use logical troubleshooting techniques. 
  • Strong understanding of audio system design and operation.
  • Must have good communication skills and interface well with others.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Must be able to hear full range audio frequencies to determine abnormal variations.
  • Requires a valid driver’s license and clear driving record in order to perform drive testing at Harman using customer owned vehicles
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate and within OSHA's standard requirements.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Use test equipment, such as an oscilloscope and digital multimeters.
  • Work in a team environment.
  • Solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, verbal, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Read and interpret documents and description of problem to complete appropriate testing.
