About the Role:
The MEP Lead will focus on both our people and our process across various Enterprise projects. Within this leadership position, you will harness and help to grow the MEP Engineering team, including both new and veteran team members. Additionally, you will be a regional link to global leadership, ensuring constant communication regarding process and product for the discipline within your region. Remaining an active team member and working on projects will remain an important part of this role.
The ideal candidate will be a seasoned MEP Engineer with deep experience mentoring and growing others in the profession and being a role model for collaborating across other design disciplines and construction teams. The MEP Lead manages a team of MEP Engineers who are involved with all phases of the building process from Schematic Design through Construction Administration and opening. This team works directly with internal and external collaborators including architects, interior designers, ICT engineers, estimators, construction professionals, operations teams, Architects of Record (AoR), and Engineers of Record (EoR).
The position requires a proven track record of positive team growth and mentorship, an understanding of our brand at its deepest level, and an aptitude for positive and clear communication within your team. Additionally, the role requires respect for and discretion with sensitive information.
The MEP Lead will report into the Design Director, PxWe.
Manage the MEP Engineering team that assesses Enterprise client needs and produces MEP design solutions. Assist team members in learning processes and growing professionally.
This role manages direct reports. The MEP Lead's responsibilities will include conducting professional 1:1 sessions, reviewing performance, providing mentorship, and performing other people management duties.
Lead and empower MEP team members to proactively flag and solve project issues.
Liaise with the other Discipline Leads on the Development team, maintaining consistent coordination of work processes and deliverables across disciplines. Ensure that MEP concerns are effectively integrated across disciplines.
Lead engineering discipline initiatives to identify global opportunities to improve engineering design processes, modeling, technology deployment, and overall product.
Produce complete MEP design packages that address client functional needs while also complying with any relevant master lease agreements, base building requirements, building codes, and regulatory considerations. In your management role, be a mentor to team members by providing guidance, feedback, QA/QC, and direction on design methodologies.
Vet and onboard new MEP consultants, strategically building relationships between our team members and external consultants.
Be a main point of contact and escalation for MEP issues, leading resolution of particularly difficult technical challenges.

8+ years experience producing mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and/or life safety construction documentation; substantial experience with commercial projects preferred
Bachelor’s Degree or higher in an MEP engineering discipline
Track record of delivering high quality design, leading MEP teams on high profile projects
Excellent oral, written and graphic communication skills
Process oriented, ambitious out-of-the-box approach, with an ability to motivate team members beyond their comfort zones
Excellent decision-making and problem solving skills
Experience coordinating design and construction documentation with external consultants from SD through CA, and confidence in reviewing and marking up documents and deliverables
Deep knowledge of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and life safety engineering infrastructure and coordination strategy; extensive knowledge of mechanical design preferred
Experience thoroughly analyzing and interpreting commercial leases with specific regard to building services and cost ramifications.
Experience understanding existing MEP and architectural plans to assess how existing conditions will affect layout and cost exposure
Experience in HVAC load modeling preferred
Understanding of construction contracts, architectural agreements, and other legal documents
Proficiency in BIM (Revit), all things Google, and Bluebeam Revu; familiarity with construction/project management platforms
