We at the Payments Tribe, an engineering, product and design team of 70, in charge of the global SumUp payments processing platform, are looking for a Product Data Analyst to help us make sense of our data and provide more value to our clients, small and mid-size businesses across the globe. 

As a Product Data Analyst, you will develop a deep understanding of our business domain and platform, to be able to think end to end and help your team by solving business problems through data insights. 

The scope of the role is varied: from occasionally researching in the DB, cleaning, parsing data in JSON files, building data models and data marts, to building reports and dashboards, and conducting A/B testing for new features, you’ll work hands-on with the feature teams to improve products and processes and make them more scalable. You’d be joining just in time to lay the foundations of the tribe’s analytical journey and have freedom and ownership in your work. 

You will work in a team with another star Product Data Analyst, product managers, platform engineering teams, and tribe leadership while drawing knowledge from a global team of analysts, data engineers and data scientists. 

Our ever evolving analytics stack currently is: PostgreSQL, Snowflake, DBT, Google BigQuery, Tableau, Google Data Studio.

What you'll do

  • Create new and refine existing KPIs 
  • Proactively identify areas of improvement by getting to know the product specifics
  • Provide insights and actionable recommendations in a consumer-friendly way
  • Contribute to the Payments data mart development and documentation
  • Identify and build data sources to answer specific business questions 
  • Propose and conduct A/B tests 
  • Actively drive the establishment of a self-service data culture in the team, measuring what matters and proposing actions upon the data driven product discoveries 

You'll be great for this role if

  • You have an analytical mindset and enjoy having great autonomy in structuring your work as well as coming up with your own hypotheses
  • Ideally, you would have 3+ years of work experience in Business Intelligence or product. You could also come from a QA or software development background, as long as you have strong SQL skills, insatiable curiosity, and customer-oriented thinking
  • You have strong SQL skills (using CTEs, window functions and subqueries, creating and maintaining analytical objects such as tables, views)
  • You have data modeling experience (create 1 table out of 10 to provide data for a business problem)
  • You have experience with data visualization tools such as Tableau or others
  • You know your tools and systems that work for you and collaborate with software in terms of data requirements and data structure (design events in GA or business events in the backend)
  • You are fluent in English - you'll be part of a truly global company

It would help if you have 

  • Experience with Snowflake
  • Experience with A/B testing and event tracking platforms before
  • Basic knowledge in data engineering
  • Experience in card payments
