Overview:

The Corporate Capital & Treasury Team has responsibility for the group treasury function at Sun Life. Under the leadership of the Treasurer and Head of Capital Planning, the team manages group capital, cash management, rating agency relationships and corporate finance activities. 

Reporting to the Director, Bermuda Treasury the Treasury Analyst will lead the on-island support of Sun Life Financial International banking activities. In addition to managing banking relationships, the team is expected to lead change through continuous improvement activities and implementation of ongoing enhancements to our payments and collections activities.

Role Summary:

The Treasury Analyst will be responsible for working on a broad array of evolving corporate treasury initiatives and day-to-day responsibilities including facilitating payments, reporting and controls.  Understanding of the need for strong control environment, attention to detail and accountability are essential qualities of the person who fills this role.  Strong communication skills are required as this person will be a first point of contact to internal customers within the organization and with external stakeholders including banks, firms and auditors.

Main Accountabilities:

  • Support the roll-out of Corporate Treasury initiatives, including treasury payment tools, cash flow forecasting and accounts payable / purchasing  
  • Develop bank reporting including fee analysis and other metrics in managing the company’s relationships with its banks
  • Support the daily wires process for cash management and client transactions ensuring full compliance with the internal control environment.
  • Responsible for the bi-monthly commission payment cycle for all for Sun Life Financial International distributors  
  • Liaise with Sun Life departments in Bermuda and overseas to ensure the timely management and resolution of all banking queries
  • Support the issuance of Letters of Credit for new Life Policies

Key qualifications:

Strong attention to detail, decision making and communication skills are necessary for this role.  It is also important to be technically proficient with ability to handle conflicting priorities and meet stringent deadlines.  A candidate with treasury/payments/banking experience and university degree in business, finance or accounting is required.
