POSITION DETAILS
Located on the Queens College campus, the Center for Ethnic, Racial and Religious Understanding (CERRU) is a community building and programming entity that trains and educates the college community in Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) matters. Under the auspices of the Office of Compliance and Diversity (C&D), CERRU works to create safe, vibrant, just and equitable engagement spaces. CERRU supports students, faculty and staff in becoming knowledgeable and equipped to navigate a diverse society.
Reporting to the Chief Diversity Officer & Dean of Diversity (CDO), the Academic Center Manager oversees and administers CERRU’s conflict simulation curriculum and its educational DEI cultural, social justice and diplomacy programs. The Academic Center Manager is responsible for ensuring staff supervision, seamless program delivery, quality control and evaluation. Duties include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Under the direction and approval of the CDO, oversee all aspects of CERRU’s programming, staff, fiscal matters and resources.
- Under the direction of the Chief Diversity Officer, manage and develop extensive educational programs geared towards developing awareness and understanding, facilitating conflict resolution and cultural transformation.
- Working and partnering with the CDO, the candidate will demonstrate a willingness to go beyond the identification of bias and discrimination and actively engage in growing emotional intelligence within the community to increase the understanding of the impact of bias and discrimination on the organizational culture.
- Supervise and mentor 5 staff members to deliver programming in support of department goals.
- Shepherd the mission, vision, values and work of CERRU by mentoring and supporting staff in their day-to-day responsibilities.
- As the programing entity of C&D, oversee and facilitate delivery of workshops and educational programmatic events for all stakeholder group of Queens College. Create and pilot interventions to identify and address systemic inequities.
- In alignment with the college’s strategic plan, develop a comprehensive implementation plan that creates responsive and impactful programming that supports greater retention of underrepresented minority staff, faculty, and students.
- Create internal and external community partnerships and networks to further the CERRU agenda and platform, as well as conduct outreach and recruitment to attract workshop participants and facilitators.
- Remain current and fluent on emerging DEI matters, civility and social justice issues that impact the safety, wellbeing and success of the QC community.
- Collect data and generate reports that analyze, evaluate, and assess the impact of workshops and events.
- Build and maintain relationships with various campus constituencies, community groups and external partners.
- Create and maintain various spreadsheets related to financial analysis
- Perform financial transactions for tax-levy and Non-tax levy entities.
- Coordinate purchase requisitions, payment requests and other financial documents to ensure Workflow is timely and accurate.
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Qualification
Bachelor's Degree and six years' relevant experience required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience with DEI strategies as well as innovative and industry best practices for effective implementation
- Experience with data collection and assessment tools
- Experience and background on developing educational programs
- Experience in conflict resolution, dialogue methods, and or/methods for working to achieve diversity, equity and inclusion strongly preferred
- Excellent writing, facilitation and communication skills
- Critical thinking and problem-solving skills
- Computer skills: Word, Excel, PowerPoint and various social media platforms
- Managerial and supervisory experience

$90,375 – 104,057
