Position Title Practice Area Lead - Mechanical
South Africa - KwaZulu-Natal
Duties and Responsibilities:
Lead and manage a mechanical engineering team,
Ensure compliance to utilisation targets set for team by business,
Sustain and nurture client relationships with existing and new clients,
Preparation of Bids and Proposals for mechanical scope of services including pricing,
Mechanical Engineering design in the Building Services sector with focus on Commercial and Industrial projects,
Mechanical Engineering Design including HVAC, Compressed Air, Process Cooling, Technical Gas etc.,
Proficient in relevant Mechanical Engineering software,
Liaison with local authorities including Council submissions and sign-off,
Provide technical training and mentorship to less experienced team members
Technical quality enforcement including design reviews and sign-off,
Interfacing of designs with other disciplines e.g. structural, architectural, mechanical & electrical,
Handling full scope of mechanical engineering consulting services on projects from concept to close-out,
Implementing and ensuring of compliance to company quality management system,
Use of international and local design standards and codes of practice i.e. SANS, BS & EN,
Report to Mechanical Practice Line Lead on project and team performance,
Maintain awareness of compliance to safety and quality standards and integration of design.
Experience 15+ years in Mechanical Building services environment.
Revit/BIM knowledge preferred.
General knowledge of integrated architectural and engineering practice.
Knowledge of Microsoft Office (i.e., Word, Excel, and Outlook).
Must be detail-oriented, consistent and highly accurate in the work.
Good communications skills: interpersonal, listening, oral, and written.
Ability to set priorities in an efficient and timely manner to meet essential job functions.
Must be a team player, have a positive attitude, and be a self-starter.
Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
Possess a strong work ethic.
Personal attributes, qualities or competencies needed:
B.Sc. or B.Eng. Mechanical Engineering with post graduate qualification preferential.
Pr.Eng. with ECSA essential.
