POSITION DETAILS

The Director of Data, Analytics and Advancement Services will report to the Vice President & Executive Director of the Office of Institutional Advancement and External Relations (OIACER) at the City College of New York. The Director of Data, Analytics and Advancement Services will provide data governance and advancement services leadership to support fundraising and alumni relations efforts within the Office of Institutional Advancement, Communications and External Relations. This is a highly collaborative, service-oriented position working with senior leaders in OIACER, and with colleagues across the college campus, schools and divisions.

In addition to the CUNY Title Overview, responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • Develop, implement and direct comprehensive and effective data strategies and initiatives to supportall aspects of fundraising and fundraising goals of the Foundation and senior OIACER leadership, including data policies and procedures, compliance, data integrity, data cleanup, data management,training, reporting and analytics, building on industry best practices
  • Lead the teams responsible for donation processing, pledge management, database management, analytics, and reporting
  • Ensure staff compliance with fundraising regulations, policies, procedures and best practices to maintain the accuracy, integrity, and security of donor data including setting appropriate policies/procedures and through continuous communication (verbal, written and implementation of formal training program)
  • Analyze donor data to identify trends and opportunities that inform fundraising decisions and ensure that insights are communicated effectively across the organization
  • Develop and oversee systems and processes that enable the fundraising team to maximize donor engagement and revenue
  • Lead, develop and implement trainings in the usage of our donor management system (currently, Raiser’s Edge NXT).
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders (e.g., Communications, Development, Finance, Institutional Research, Academic Divisions, College-wide Programs, Consultants) to ensure smooth integration of fundraising systems and data with all relevant areas of the organization including collaborating with key partners to create, monitor and evaluate the beginning to end transactional processes, procedures and protocols for donor contributions that align with fundraising regulations and best practices and managing our high visibility projects related to our annual direct mail campaigns and EMSI/Lightcast alumni outcomes initiatives
  • Collaborate with frontline fundraisers, prospect development, finance, events and communications teams to ensure that data-related procedures support, integrate, and drive increased effectiveness and efficiencies of these functions including regularly communicating with OIACER senior leadership to assess/identify donor related needs and create systems, processes and tools to help them meet their departmental goals
  • Maintain a high level of professionalism and confidentiality in all matters, while communicating effectively with colleagues, donors, and other external stakeholders.

QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s degree and eight years’ related experience required.

Preferred Qualifications :

  • An advanced degree in information management, data science, or a similar field is preferred
  • Eight years’ experience in advancement services/fundraising operations and data analysis, with at least four years in a managerial or leadership capacity
  • Strong knowledge of Fundraising database systems, data analytics tools, and reporting software
  • Demonstrated experience developing effective systems and processes related to data management, analysis, and reporting
  • Excellent analytical skills, with a track record of using data to drive business decisions
  • Exceptional project management skills with the ability to build, track, and manage multiple projects in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey technical information to a non-technical audience

  • Creates and implements thoughtful strategies to attract gifts from donors and prospects; works with management to establish, and meet, goals and targets
  • Builds relationships, seeking new donors through prospecting using a variety of sources, and maintaining ongoing relationships with existing donors, collaborating with College and University management
  • Ensures reporting requirements are completed in timely and accurate manner; utilizes automated systems for tracking and reporting
  • Adheres to established protocols such as the University's gift acceptance policy
  • Performs related duties as assigned.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

Salary range: $129,310 - $141,858. Salary commensurate with education and experience.
