 Manufacturing Engineer

Sarcos® Manufacturing Engineers role on the project team is to provide guidance on design for manufacturability, oversee the building of prototypes, preparing fabrication and assembly procedures, and interfacing with suppliers. Manufacturing Engineers plan, specify, and coordinate the process and equipment improvements necessary for Sarcos® products to hit required cost, quality, and efficiency objectives. A sound understanding of kinematics and mechanism design is also required to properly support Sarcos® robot manufacturing.  Finally, a comprehensive background with geometric dimensioning and tolerancing is essential.


  • Develop, revise and support the implantation of new processes to the manufacturing floor.
  • Maintain quality standards for processing components into products.
  • Investigating root cause of failure modes that occur during manufacturing and identify corrective actions as well as implement ECO’s.
  • Receives limited oversight from a Principal engineer, can be a lead on a project and provide mentoring to technicians.
  • Building and testing prototypes.
  • Designing tools and fixtures.
  • Design and implement methods and procedures for assembly, testing and evaluating electromechanical subassemblies for conformance to specifications.
  • Makes design and technical decisions subject to review by senior engineers.
  • Sourcing of custom complex machined components.
  • Review drawings and inspect for proper GD&T.
  • Interacting with vendors, engineers and fabrication personnel to obtain part information on high tolerance complex parts
  • Generating BOMS and supporting fabrication and assembly.

  • Experience estimating, planning and streamlining manufacturing processes.
  • Experience using GD&T for mechanisms.
  • Experience with hydraulic, and pneumatics machines
  • Knowledge of modern manufacturing practices particularly CNC.
  • Experience with 3-D CAD solid modeling software, preferably SolidWorks
  • Knowledge of document archival processes, e.g., PDM document control systems;
  • Experience authoring, modifying and auditing procedures

Work Environment and Physical Demands:

  • Work is performed Monday through Friday with occasional overtime and weekend requirements.
  • Safety awareness is absolutely essential at all times while in the work area.
  • Must be able to stand and sit for extended times.
