Staff Software Engineer – Cloud Platforms and Networking

As a Staff Software engineer, you will be developing innovative solutions for Citrix Cloud. You will join a team of experienced and talented software engineers based in Patras Greece, boasting a years-long history of delivering high-quality carrier-grade products. You will be working in a fast-paced business environment and have the potential to collaborate with fellow engineering teams across the globe. You will also have the opportunity to act as a technical lead in design and development activities as well as play an active role in defining the future of our products.

Responsibilities

  • Interface with Product Managers, Architects and customers to understand requirements for developing proof of concepts (prototypes) and final product features.
  • Compose and maintain design specifications and component documents.
  • Collaborate with the team to consider project approaches, select methodologies, jointly plan tasks, and coordinate activities.
  • Implement front end and back end business logic for new features (full stack development).
  • Embrace and institute best practices and coding standards (e.g.: code reviews, logging and instrumentation, unit tests) within the team.
  • Understand and troubleshoot field/customer issues. Diagnose customer problems through systematic root cause analysis and institute preventive measures.
  • Serve as technical expert providing direction, guidance and delegation within a project/scrum team.
  • Engage and encourage continuous learning, both on the job and through available technical training, to further develop knowledge and skills.

Qualifications and Requirements

The position requires a Software Engineer professional with 7+ years of directly related work experience; or 6+ years for a holder of an MSc or higher degree in Computer Science (or related discipline) with a specialization directly relevant to our product lines.

Essential requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field
  • Relevant development experience in JavaScript/Nodejs, Microsoft toolchain with emphasis on C# and ASP.NET, API development using .NET Core Databases
  • Proficiency in web based applications using design patterns (e.g. MVC, MVVM), web application frameworks (Angular, React etc.) and designing modern REST based APIs, 3rd party integration, Web UI interactions, etc.
  • Extensive expertise in one or more high-level Object Oriented programming languages (e.g. Java, C++ or Python)
  • Strong working knowledge of relational and modern database technologies (SQL, noSQL, schema design)
  • Exposure to Cloud Services (Microsoft Azure, Amazon AWS,etc.)
  • Familiarity with programming for UN*X systems including shell scripting and development toolchain
  • Knowledge of source-control management concepts and tools (e.g. git, mercurial, perforce)
  • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills
  • Strong foundation and discipline in software engineering processes
  • Strong written and verbal English communication skills
  • Team player

Desirable attributes

  • Master’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent
  • Knowledge and experience with Agile methodologies (e.g. Scrum)
  • Experience in test automation and Continuous Integration.
  • Design of Cloud services in Azure, AWS
  • Highly-scalable, distributed Cloud Services architectures
