Position Summary, Responsibilities and Expectations

  • Develop and maintain product sales database itemizing regulatory and trade regulations, documentation requirements, environmental and compulsory costs by target sell country and/or market
  • Track and validate that products meet all regulatory requirements before being sold into a target market
  • Identify EMC/RF/Product Safety Certs Required for each target market
  • Identify and stay up to date on recycling requirements for each target market
  • Oversee/Manage the reporting for and administration of recycling program, such as ROHS and WEEE 
  • Identify and stay up to date on environmental requirements for each target market
  • Identify and stay up to date on labeling and documentation requirements for each target market
  • Identify and stay up to date with any other regulatory requirements for importing the company's products into each target market
  • Create, source and maintain product certifications to facilitate compliant customs clearance
  • Review and approve packaging compliance for each target market
  • Identify and stay up to date on mandatory warranty minimums for each target market
  • Ensure compliance with customer packaging requirements
  • Ensure compliance with customer product related environmental requirements
  • Ensure compliance with customer related labels, markings and documentation
  • Create and Maintain a Calendar of upcoming requirements for target markets
  • Participate in NPI and OOBA processes
  • Develop process documentation and educate/train partnering functions and external service providers
  • Support export and import (EXIM) product classification process – harmonized system (HS) codes and export control classification numbers (ECCN)

Key Requirements & Desired Skills

  • 5+ years’ experience working within a corporate compliance function, preferably product regulatory or trade (import/export) compliance
  • BS/MBA in logistics or supply chain management; equivalent experience may be substituted for degree requirements
  • Data-driven and proficient managing multiple data sources with authority using MS Excel and business intelligence tools (e.g., MS Power BI)
  • Competent communicator (email/verbal/presentation) and comfortable showcasing work output and cases/ideas via MS PowerPoint
  • Experience with import (WCO HS) and export (US ECCN) commodity classification and engaging key external partners (i.e., customs house brokerage service providers, customs authorities and partnering government agencies
  • Knowledge of product safety and emissions testing and certification
  • Knowledge of WEEE reporting requirements
  • Knowledge of product marking requirements for various countries
  • Savvy with developing business cases and translating data into concise actionable recommendations
  • Keen knowledge of US domestic and international (incoterms) terms of sale
  • Familiar with dangerous goods (DG) regulations - IATA, 49CFR and IMDG certification preferred
  • Ability to travel approximately 10-15% (US/International)
  • Individual contributor role – no direct reports
