Job Description

We are looking for a Manufacturing Technician required to assist in production at the Protein Separations Unit. In this role you will;

  • Take full responsibility for the manufacture of products as delegated by the Production Team Leader and Production Supervisor.
  • Be trained over a period of time in a number of protein separation and purification processes, taking full responsibility of the task when confident and working as a team to get all manufacturing tasks done each day.
  • Carry out duties as requested, including training team members when practical.

Key Responsibilities:
Production
  • Complete all Production tasks as scheduled on a daily and weekly basis.
  • Report to the Team Leader / Production Supervisor any production related problems.
  • Record manufacturing processes in real time and neatly, in batch manufacturing records
  • Perform all work using the appropriate SOP, batch sheet, etc.so that the same standards are followed by everyone.
  • Ensure plant hygiene and housekeeping is always maintained.
  • Work as a member of the team ensuring you get your work done and help others.
Quality Assurance
  • Update Batch Sheets and SOP’s pertaining to existing processes.
Technical Transfer / Process Improvements
  • Assist with special projects as required.
General
  • Participate in appropriate meetings and discussions as required.
  • All other reasonable tasks as may be requested by the Team Leader and/or the Production Supervisor.
  • Able to start as early as 5am Mon – Fri and be flexible with occasional overtime. Usual hours per week are 40 hours.

Experience
  • Experience working in a production environment, especially food, milk processing or related to biotechnology is preferred.

Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:
  • Academic qualifications - NCEA Level Two, or Sixth Form Certificate, with some science and mathematics related subjects, or a tertiary qualification preferably in science is preferred.
  • Natural communicator, both written and oral
  • Accurate, with proven attention to detail
  • Safety minded in work practices
  • Technical and mechanical aptitude
  • Have basic computer skills.
  • Be able to be standing and moving all day with lifting up to 20Kg as required.

Desirable
  • Knowledge of general protein separation techniques
  • Experience working in cGMP (current Good Manufacturing Practices) environments
  • Knowledge of computer applications and current software is desirable. General understanding of machinery and mechanics is advantageous
