Cities & Places

At Jacobs, we're challenging today to reinvent tomorrow by solving the world's most critical problems for thriving cities, resilient environments, mission-critical outcomes, operational advancement, scientific discovery and cutting-edge manufacturing, turning abstract ideas into realities that transform the world for good.

Your impact

As a global leader of Program Management and Construction Management (PM/CM) services with projects ranging from $1 million to programs of up to $10 billion, Jacobs delivers award-winning Design and/or Construction Management projects for public and private sector clients. From the pre-construction phase through first patient we function as stewards of our clients' goals and aspirations.

As a Project Manager, you’ll be part of a team supporting the long term capital improvement plan of a healthcare system in San Diego. Your responsibilities on this program will range from management of multiple individual routine capital improvements such as medical / imaging equipment replacement projects to supporting the design and construction management of a new hospital.

For the routine capital improvement projects you will be managing, you will be responsible for overall management and success of each project. You will be responsible for RFP development, proposal evaluation and recommendation, contract negotiation, management of design, construction and the AHJ’s, stakeholder coordination, cost management, executive reporting and all other project management responsibilities associated with healthcare construction. You will be on site full time and work directly with leadership from the healthcare system.

In your role supporting larger master plan projects, which include construction of new hospitals and medical office buildings, you will support a larger team and take ownership of a subset of one of the projects. You may be tasked with representing the Owner in individual cluster groups during design or leading management of a department or floor of a building. You may also be responsible for financial or administrative tasks such as change order review and negotiation, forecasting and cash flow, or executive reporting.

We are looking for candidates who are self-starters, excel at navigating ambiguity, have a client first approach to project management, and are willing to adapt their responsibilities based on the client’s needs. Candidates will need experience with healthcare construction. Experience managing construction in OSHPD 1 facilities a plus, however most important to success in the role is a deep desire to learn coupled with a bias to action, driving projects to completion.

Your role keeps our company connected and we’ll support you with what you need to be successful. Bring your curiosity, passion for innovation, and talent for multi-tasking in a fast-paced environment. We’ll help you grow, pursue and fulfill what inspires you – so we can make big impacts on the world, together.

Here's what you'll need

  • Bachelor’s degree in construction management or a related field, or equivalent combination of healthcare and significant related experience
  • 7+ years of related healthcare design and construction project management experience
  • Strong working knowledge of design, pre-construction, building systems components and technology, contract management (GMP/ lump sum), team building and client relationship building

Ideally, you will also have

  • Experience delivering OSHPD 1 Projects
  • Experience delivering new construction projects
  • Certified Construction Manager (CCM), CM-Lean, DBIA Professional, Professional Engineer (PE) or Architect license/certification
