We have a fantastic opportunity for an experienced IT professional to join our IT team at Mediolanum as Head of Technology Delivery.

The Head of Technology Delivery is a senior IT executive who supports the CIO in providing vision, leadership, and operational management of all technology functions. This role balances strategic leadership and hands-on technical delivery, ensuring that IT initiatives drive business value while maintaining robust governance, security, and regulatory compliance. The Head of Technology Delivery acts as a key change agent for data-driven transformation, fosters innovation in line with corporate strategy, and collaborates closely with technical teams and SMEs to deliver complex projects.

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing delivery of all technology projects. Working closely with key business sponsors ensuring that technology guidance is provided and technology delivery is carried out within agreed timelines, in line with the technology strategy, our security standards and within costs. This is a key technology leadership role reporting to the CIO (Chief Information Officer).

This is an outstanding opportunity to become part of a dynamic, expanding team that leverages innovative technology to drive business transformation and innovation. •Stakeholder Engagement: Representing one of our technology squads, act as a trusted advisor to senior business leadership, translating business needs into technology initiatives. Co-ordinate regular delivery prioritization sessions with all stakeholders ensuring that technology is delivered in alignment with business priorities.

  • Technical Program Delivery: Drive the delivery of all technology projects allocated to the squad across the organization. Supporting technical analysis, architecture, engineering, quality assurance and data governance colleagues within the squad in an agile delivery framework.
  • Cross-Functional Teams: Promote strong partnerships between IT and other business functions. Facilitate interdisciplinary project teams (across core technology, data, risk, operations personnel and security) to ensure technology initiatives are aligned to the broader technology strategy. Act as a change leader, guiding users and stakeholders through technology-driven organizational changes.
  • Programme & Project Leadership: Serve as executive sponsor for major IT initiatives, ensuring they are correctly scoped, resourced, and delivered on schedule. Steer project governance (status reviews, risk management, stakeholder communication) for a portfolio of projects across infrastructure, applications, and data.
  • Data Strategy Execution: Support delivery of the enterprise data strategy to harness data as a strategic asset. Oversee the evolution of data architecture and platforms – for instance, migrating legacy data warehouses to the modern cloud-based data lakehouse platform to improve analytics and reporting capabilities.
  • Analytics & AI Initiatives: Support the adoption of advanced analytics, AI, and business intelligence solutions. Ensure data governance practices (data quality, metadata management, master data management) are in place to provide trustworthy data for decision-making. Promote innovative use of data (e.g. implementing new portfolio analytics tools underpinned by the unified data platform) that drive business insights while complying with AI governance and ethical standards.
  • Innovation & Continuous Improvement: Encourage the use of modern methodologies (Agile, DevOps) and tools to increase delivery efficiency. Implement metrics and retrospectives to continuously improve the IT delivery process. Stay attuned to emerging technologies (cloud, AI, automation) and assess their applicability to improve systems or processes.
  • Team Development: Lead and mentor Technology Delivery Team and technical experts across the department. Foster a high-performance culture focused on collaboration, innovation, and professional growth. Ensure clarity of roles and accountability within the IT team. •Broad knowledge of enterprise IT systems (infrastructure, cloud, applications, data platforms). •Familiarity with modern data architectures (data lakehouses, pipelines) and analytics tools.
  • Strong understanding of relevant regulations and standards – e.g. information security standards (ISO/IEC 27001), financial sector IT regulations (DORA), data protection (GDPR), and emerging AI governance principles. Able to translate regulatory requirements into actionable compliance plans.
  • Exceptional leadership and communication skills. Able to inspire and influence at all levels of the organization, from technical teams to C-suite and Board.
  • Excellent stakeholder management, negotiation, and vendor management abilities.
  • Strategic thinker with a pragmatic approach to problem-solving and a hands-on attitude when needed to achieve outcomes. •Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field. An MBA or relevant postgraduate qualification is a plus.
  • Extensive experience (10+ years) in IT leadership roles, including strategic planning, governance, and project delivery in a complex, regulated environment (financial services experience preferred).
  • Proven track record of delivering large-scale transformation projects and managing multi-disciplinary IT teams.
  • Experience in a technical delivery role within an active asset management organization, experience in custody and fund accounting are also relevant.
  • Experience overseeing software development lifecycles and implementing best-in-class cybersecurity practices.
