Your impact

At Jacobs, how we manage the flow of technical information to construction is crucial to the success of our projects and a key component of the work we do with our clients. As a Senior Level Construction Technical Services Professional, you will Provide leadership and guidance to teams of people that:

  • Resolve in-progress issues, discrepancies, or disputes related to technical interpretation of drawings and specifications; clarifying and, when required, expediting home office/responsible engineer(s) response to meet project needs in a timely manner
  • Ensure liaising with home office engineering, outside engineering firms, and client representatives
  • Provide On-site technical support in interpretation of engineering released documents, specifications, and drawings, including input to the change management process within your technical expertise.
  • Lead Jacobs effort in the Permitting process and with Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJs),
  • Work with Design-Build contractors once their efforts move to the field.
  • Lead the construction document management process,

o providing oversight and guidance through a construction document control lead,

o ensure effective communication with subcontractors leading to receipt and management of all key drawings and documents in a revision-controlled manner.

  • Ensure revision control is in place for all construction documents

o Ensure contractors have the latest revisions to construction documents

o Mange, control, and communicate all timely information related to potential changes in design and installation

o Manage the field sketch/redline process associated with changes

o Working with Project Controls and Construction, lead and manage the Field Design Revision process

  • Act as technically competent lead in response to contractor or other party request for specification deviation in work or work product, working within the project approved spec deviation process.
  • Work with Field Quality, subcontractors, and Home Office Engineering to resolve Nonconformities (NCRs)
  • The Director of Construction Technical Services will have single point accountability for leading and delivering on their team’s responsibilities.
  • Provide leadership, mentorship, and guidance to your team toward meeting these objectives.

Here's what you'll need

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management, technology or equivalent years of experience in lieu of degree
  • Certified technical training is highly preferred
  • Minimum 15 years of experience working in the field in the engineering and construction of heavy-industrial process facilities
  • An understanding of construction-oriented means, methods, codes and standards
  • Experience interpreting home office engineering documents for construction purposes
  • Understanding of commercial requirements and constraints on E/EP/EPC/EPCM projects
  • Experience working on large project in an EPCM environment

Ideally, You’ll Also Have:

  • Masters degree in engineering, construction management, technology, not required
  • Leadership roles
  • Life Science experience is preferred
  • Effective oral and written communication
  • Ability to read and understand engineering drawings
  • Project Management competencies
  • Construction field experience

Posted Salary Range: Minimum

196,200.00

Posted Salary Range: Upper

295,000.00

The base salary range for this position is $196,200.00 to $295,000.00. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
