POSITION DETAILS

The Pre-College and Welcome Center Coordinator will work with various pre-college initiatives offered by the School of Labor and Urban Studies and assist in the coordination of Welcome Center events. Its overall goal is to help students be better prepared for college-level work and enter college without the need for remediation. Report to the Senior Associate Dean of Academic Affairs, the main tasks include: providing direct support to campus programs in implementing pre-college program services and training and building capacity on campus to provide new services, supporting campus-based coordinators in the implementation aspects. Additionally, coordinate events between Welcome Center, and Pre-College recruitment and program offerings.

Key duties include, but will not be limited to the following:

  • Support campus programs in the area of student and youth development to design and implement enrichment services that support student awareness and knowledge of the college going process and the importance of college readiness for success in college; student awareness and knowledge of career development; College Now alumni success at first year in college, and interaction between alumni and current students.
  • Provide direct service in the above areas and/or build capacity by training campus program staff to start or continue providing above services.
  • Assist programs with integration and assessment of special enrichment projects program (including recruitment, data collection, assessment and reporting, and budgeting).
  • Monitor assigned campus programs’ performance in the areas of enrollment and student achievement.
  • Assist with planning and implementation of Pre-College wide professional development and technical assistance in the areas of education and youth and student development (determine topics, create materials, identify resources, identify presenters, etc.).
  • Assist with the creation of Pre-College information materials, (flyers, postcards, general program information for different audiences) program documents and reports as needed.
  • Assist with the analysis and research of the program for the purpose of program management and improvement.
  • Assist with the creation of the materials appropriate for Pre-College and Welcome Center website and general communication through the Website and social media.
  • Prepare and participate in program presentations at conferences and other venues as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s degree required.

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS

  • Two (2) years’ related work experience in education program administration preferred
  • Understanding of public higher education systems and interest in promoting college access and success in post-secondary education
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills with ability to work effectively with a diverse community of students, faculty and staff
  • Ability to work productively and collaboratively in a dynamic student-focused and responsive office
  • Strong writing, proofreading, and editing skills
  • Strong organizational and follow-through skills to execute work plans, prioritize work, coordinate multiple assignments, and meet deadlines
  • Detail oriented and accurate with excellent research, analysis, and data management skills
  • Computer proficiency using academic, administrative, or financial programs, systems, or databases
  • Experience with online survey systems, meeting, scheduling, and collaboration tools

  • Supports the directors and managers with orientation preparation, student advisement regarding program requirements, and providing basic information about financial aid and registration
  • Manages office records including faculty files; prepares reports and surveys; collects and maintains statistical data on program activities
  • Serves as liaison to various College offices to provide service delivery and appropriate referrals to students
  • Collects and reviews syllabi to ensure compliance with standards
  • Serves as resource person for students and faculty regarding program policies and procedures
  • May supervise office operations and/or monitor department budget
  • Performs related duties as assigned.

Salary is $51,781 - $57,517 commensurate with qualifications, experience and education.
