Project Description

End Wildlife Crime is a five-year activity that builds upon the successes of prior USAID/RDMA CWT activities, notably the USAID Wildlife Asia Activity and the USAID Reducing Demand for Wildlife Activity. To combat the ongoing demand for wildlife parts and products, the EWC activity will build and expand upon this work by taking a whole of society approach. The activity will encourage all people, including young people, women, Indigenous communities, faith-based groups and environmental organizations, to join efforts in protecting wildlife and expands the role of civil society to become active participants in the fight against illegal wildlife trade. 

Responsibilities

RTI is seeking a SBCC Coordinator for USAID End Wildlife Crime. The SBCC Coordinator will be responsible for supporting social and behavior change communication activities in alliance with activity objectives. 

This position will be based in Bangkok, Thailand. Thai nationals are encouraged to apply.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Report to the SBCC Lead.
  • Provide technical support to SBCC Lead on coordinating with and engaging civil society organizations including under-represented groups (women, youth, faith based, indigenous), to plan and implement existing or planned regional SBCC activities and campaigns specifically by enhancing their advocacy and/or social mobilization components.
  • Provide support to Objective 1 training/ capacity strengthening activities on SBCC for partners and various relevant audiences.
  • Contribute to annual and quarterly workplanning for Objective 1 and coordinating plans with Objective 2 and 3.
  • Coordinate and review inputs from different partner SBCC staff
  • Support the SBCC Lead in organizing workshops, relevant partner or donor meetings, and Knowledge Sharing/Management activities and assist in preparing relevant presentations for these.
  • Provide support to monitoring, evaluation and learning activities to track progress of Objective 1 vs. plans.
  • Contribute to project reporting deliverables by coordinating reporting inputs from partners and drafting relevant sections that highlight progress, success stories, challenges and lessons learned
  • Provide administrative support on Objective 1 activities focused on scheduling, setting up agendas, organizing deliverables and activities, tracking progress, maintaining files.
  • Undertake other assignments as required by the SBCC Lead or Chief of Party.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree and 3 years of experience, or master’s degree and 1 years of experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in administrative support and report writing.
  • Demonstrated experience in coordinating events or complex programs and initiatives.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English.
  • Knowledge and familiarity with SBCC
  • Familiarity with the countering wildlife trafficking sector is preferred.
  • Experience in Southeast Asia preferred.
