CNC Machinist / Programmer

Principle Accountabilities:


  1. Responsible for all milling operation for a specific machine and related key performance measures of operation adhering to BJA’s and safe work practices.
  2. Occasionally responsible for polishing finished machined dies to the Masonite specifications adhering to BJA’s and safe work practices.
  3. Coordinate floor activities for your machine’s operation on the shift defining work assignments congruent with operations schedules and communicating goals for shift.
  4. Proficiency in mathematics, computer 2D drafting, G/M codes, and general computing skills.
  5. Responsible for communicating work status and assignments with prior/subsequent shift crew members to ensure a smooth transition of information and responsibilities.
  6. Perform part inspection using micrometers, calipers, height indicator, etc.
  7. Assist department management in providing materials and tooling inventories to meet production goals/schedules.
  8. Positions and secures work pieces on machines, using holding devices, measuring instruments, hand tools, forklift, and hoists.
  9. Assist department management in providing quotation and repair processing for die repairs.


The challenge for this position is to get maximum product throughput to meet or exceed customer specifications.  The demand for dies exceeds the function’s capacity to produce. It is therefore critical that the function achieve maximum output.


Knowledge and Experience:

  • 5-10 years’ experience in machine shop and CNC mill operations equipment
  • Proficient in the use of measuring equipment (+/- 0.002” tolerances) to inspect your own work
  • Experience with large vertical milling machines; tight tolerances
  • Auto Cad experience preferred
  • Minimum high school degree
  • Trade school desired
  • Strong communication and decision making skills
