Compensation Range

Hourly: $37.75 - $44.70 (Amount based on relevant experience, skills, and competencies.)

About This Job

The main purpose of this job is to develop informative, influential content and copy for a range of strategic initiatives. This job is a brand leader, working with internal teams to ensure high editorial standards and copy that will resonate with our target audiences in the wealth management audience.

Essential Functions

  • Serve as a subject matter expert for financial content writing topics and take the lead to develop, write, and edit a variety of content, with a constant eye toward accuracy, quality, and consistency
  • Collaborate with and build strong working relationships with subject matter experts, such as financial planners, private bankers, portfolio managers, private client advisors, and investment analysts
  • Share new content ideas with leadership, write and deliver content that promotes the Commerce Trust wealth management brand
  • Keep abreast of current developments in delivering financial content
  • Drive engagement with target audience by presenting thought leadership in a compelling, high impact way on a variety of topics focused on financial planning, wealth management, and private banking and other solutions and products
  • Apply research, writing and editing skills to the entire editorial process to conceive, research, interview and extract insights from subject matter experts, develop and create thought leadership pieces in multiple formats and across a variety of media, including video content, investment reports, newsletter and website articles, social media posts, promotional headlines and text
  • Partner with internal and external marketing colleagues to produce the content in go-to-market form
  • Guide the timely review of content through the Legal and Compliance review process
  • Contribute to the content strategy and planning process based on the insights you bring from collaborating with subject matter expert colleagues and through your own content development responsibilities
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required

  • Strong knowledge of the wealth management field
  • Tenacious with a passion for sharing financial planning and investment industry insights through content in an approachable, non-jargony tone to connect with the audience
  • Strong project management skills with ability to adjust tone and message for specific audiences and diverse formats
  • Ability to engage and understand with professional subject matter experts at all levels to convey their story in a compelling and interesting, understandable way and follow up with them for content review
  • Ability to tailor writing style to suit the target audience
  • Open to other viewpoints, feedback, collaboration and be versatile enough to work with different types of people and personalities whose subject matter input is necessary to the process
  • Overall driven to deliver high quality, engaging content in representation of the Commerce Trust Company brand
  • Motivated and organized self-starter with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
  • Inquisitive, agile, and strong team player with excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to remain adaptable and resilient to all situations with an optimistic outlook and cast a positive shadow that is aligned with our culture and Core Values
  • Intermediate level proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Teams, and Outlook 

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience required
  • 6+ years investment writing experience required

The disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for any applicable differentials (geographic, bilingual, or shift) that could be associated with the position or where it is filled. At Commerce, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role, and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each situation. A reasonable estimate of the current base pay is $37.75 to $44.70 per hour.
