Job Description

The University of Notre Dame Enterprises and Events (UEE) division is currently hiring for the position of SeniorDirector of Campus Dining Strategy. The UEE division leads the University’s event management, hospitality, and customer service functions while supporting student life, academic endeavors, and research initiatives.

Why this position?

This is a dynamic leadership position that is passionate about strategic innovation and operational excellence to maximize the student dining experience. The Senior Director of Campus Dining Strategy will report to the Executive Director of Campus Dining and will provide leadership of all Student Dining facilities in support of the University’s mission. The Senior Director is responsible for creating and implementing a student dining strategic framework and driving consistency of the student dining experience reflective of Notre Dame’s commitment to excellence. This position will research, develop, communicate and implement policy and programs related to the strategic framework and operational project management.

  • Strategic Planning : Research, develop, communicate and implement the campus dining strategic plan that allows for the effective enhancement and evolution of the dining hall operations and aligns with industry trends to establish ND as a top 10 dining institution. This position strategically collaborates with the Retail Dining leadership to deliver a comprehensive dining experience to our Students faculty and staff. The Senior Director of Campus Dining Strategy oversees the partnership with the Athletics Department and provides leadership on the execution of programs tailored for our student athletes. Partners with Student Activities, Student Government and other campus groups to strategically resolve issues relating to quality and service. Works to utilize available campus and department resources to improve efficiencies and effectiveness of operations. In collaboration with the UEE Finance department, develop annual financial operating budgets for the dining halls that will maximize returns to the University. Work alongside the Executive Director of Campus Dining, UEE Finance and Enterprises and Operations departments for regular management of the strategic equipment and facility upgrading and replacement plans at the dining halls.
  • Operational Leadership: Provide leadership for campus dining hall operations. Advises Director of Student Dining concerning strategic aspects of their units. Monitors and evaluates operations, making improvements and maximizing resources, in line with the strategic framework and while improving service to dining hall guests. The Senior Director is responsible for $23+ million in annual net profit and effectively leading the student dining team with a focus on operational excellence and achieving the strategic goals.
  • Administration : Administrative oversight and support of the dining hall operations to ensure the most effective and efficient use of time and talent across the departmental workforce. In collaboration with the Executive Director, ensure all necessary resources are provided for collective success; including but not limited to human, equipment, facilities, supplies and products.
  • Other Duties as assigned The Senior Director of Campus Dining Strategy works and supports the UEE Division and participates in Mission Centric activities throughout Campus and the general Notre Dame community

Minimum Qualifications

  • 5+ years experience in Campus Dining
  • 5+ years senior leadership
  • Hospitality experience including strategy, financial expectation, revenue, and costing
  • Higher Education experience
