Amazon Workplace Health & Safety (WHS) organization is looking for a passionate, results-oriented WHS Program Manager, Technical SME to lead our High-Risk Operations program development and deployment supporting our Reliability & Maintenance Engineering organization (RME) across Australia & Singapore.

The successful candidate will lead, support and provide technical SME advice on High-Risk Operations (HRO) Program development and deployment across the regions and work collaboratively with World Wide HRO technical team, RME leadership, and partner with cross-functional teams to ensure safe work practices and compliant workplaces consistent with Amazon WW WHS requirements.

This is a role with a multi-location scope to provide technical support and drive implementation of WW HRO programs that; encourage high engagement across all levels, drive risk reduction projects; deliver sustainable continuous performance improvements within a high-risk operation work environment. You will demonstrate a passion and deep technical knowledge and expertise in the field of Reliability & Maintenance Engineering and high-risk operation work environments and best practice safety standards, management system and local regulations.

This role requires travel approximately 40 % of time, based in Australia; Melbourne, Brisbane, or Sydney.

Key job responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Establish partnerships with RME leadership and work closely with country and site WHS teams.
  • You will think big, as well as roll up your sleeves and dive deep to identify systemic gaps, provide technical advice and subject matter expert for HRO programs and deploy practical solutions.
  • Work with stakeholders to continuously improve HRO Program requirements; effective deployment of standards and procedures, risk management and mitigation actions, incident management, inspection, audit & program assurance, training & communication.
  • Support RME Leadership engage with technicians and contractors, encourage active involvement through defined expectations and ownership, bias-for-action escalating safety issues, using stop work authority, and support peer review safety programs.
  • Leverage WW HRO program to dive-deep into country risk profile and define risk mitigation actions along with RME leadership to drive risk reduction and program improvement.
  • Invent and simplify new ways to raise awareness and capabilities of the regional and country RME teams to reach deep understanding of the inherent RME High-risks operations to effectively mitigate risks.
  • Support Contract Risk Management (CRM) program, ensuring effective program deployment at site and contractor compliance with regulatory and Amazon WHS policy requirements

A day in the life

You will be responsible for driving the regional HRO program deployment and continuous improvement ensuring the safety and well-being of our associates and our third-party partners. You will work across the Amazon business units to understand the RME operational risks and support the leadership teams identify, develop and deploy High-risk mitigation actions and processes, identify new technology solutions and work collaboratively with multiple stakeholders globally and across the region to continuously “raise the bar” and deliver results.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s Degree in safety or related science
  • 8+ years’ experience supporting high-risk operations.
  • You are able to interface at all levels of leadership and across field organization.
  • Diagnose problems, identify and drive appropriate solutions, demonstrate problem solving and analytical capability, acts decisively, promptly and confidently.
  • You'll have highly developed written & verbal communication skills, analytical ability, dive deep problem solving, agility to function in a fast paced and innovative environment.
  • Experience in high risk operation program development and deployment: Fall Hazard Control, Electrical Safe Work, Hazardous Energy Control, Conveyors & Machine Safeguarding, Confined Spaces, Hot Work and Hoisting & Rigging.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master’s degree in a related field and have or working towards recognized safety certifications.
  • Working knowledge of regional regulatory requirements and standards (ISO, etc.)
  • Strong analytical skills with demonstrated problem solving ability with experience in technical, standards, or program writing.
  • Six Sigma Green Belt certified or equivalent
  • Ability to adapt well to fast-paced.
