User Experience Specialist

As a User Experience Specialist in the Elsevier, you will;
  • Be responsible for autonomous delivery of User-Centered Design (UCD) processes and deliverables for a specific project or product with a focus on current product release and occasionally upcoming releases as well as ensuring a good user experience
  • Assist in the strategy for the product

Key responsibilities include; 
  • Develop, maintain & enhance Technical best practice
    • Prepare technical documentation.
    • Perform coding / product development and code review.
    • Define the user experience for multiple product and projects using tools such as wireframes, prototypes, and process flow diagrams.
    • Stay up to date with new technologies and trends in the web design space
  • Solution Driven mind-set
  • Assist in the developing strategy for the customer-facing product/application.
  • Generate new ideas at the product level and project level; prepare implementation plans.
  • Ensure functional and visual consistency between various customer-facing products/applications
  • Develop a good working relationship with a wide range of stakeholders to design end-to-end experiences using participatory and iterative design techniques
  • Technical Risk Management
  • Able to identify possible risk/impact during planning phase
  • Provide a risk management plan and monitor it.
  • Ensure users are considered at every phase of the product development process.
  • Quality Control and Management 
  • Implement advanced UCD processes
  • Define or assist in defining development standard
  • Maintain and ensure the standard is strictly in place
  • Communicate 
  • Establish and maintain relationships with senior stakeholders, users, and product/technology staff
  • Work closely with visual designers and web developers, providing limited direction as necessary.
  • Collaborate with User Experience coworkers and technology staff
To be successful, you’ll bring with you;
  • 3+ years of UX experience
  • BS Human Factors Engineering/Computer Science/Psychology or equivalent experience required
  • Experience coding in HTML5, CCS3, knowledge of Zurb Framework
  • Knowledge of Python, LAMP is an advantage
  • Strong interaction design skills and attention to detail

  • Good oral and written communication skills
