Job Description: Loyola University Chicago (LUC), Department of Engineering Science invites applications for a three-year renewable, full-time, non-tenure-track position at the rank of clinical assistant professor, beginning fall 2018. Engineering Science began to offer its BS Engineering Science degree in fall of 2015, and plans to seek ABET accreditation in fall of 2019. The specializations in this program are biomedical, computer, and environmental engineering. Students in the biomedical engineering specialization learn how to develop and test robust software for the medical device industry. The Engineering Science faculty includes Clinical Assistant Professors, who incorporate real-world experience into their teaching, and enable students to gain a better understanding of everyday engineering challenges such as product specifications. The department currently has six full-time faculty members. For more details about the program, visit The successful candidate will be expected to teach undergraduate courses within a system theory-based curriculum, with a 4/3 course load. The successful candidate will oversee and teach Biomedical Engineering capstone design courses (which incorporate medical device product development and regulation); two courses in medical device software development, verification and validation; and other core engineering courses.

Qualifications: The position requires a Ph.D. in bioengineering, biomedical engineering, or electrical/computer engineering, as well as 4 years of full-time industry or government experience. Experience with MATLAB/Simulink-based tools for model-based design of software is preferred. Candidates for the position must demonstrate the potential for distinguished teaching and student mentorship or possess a record of such accomplishments.
