The Home Health Aide performs non-skilled procedures for the home-bound patient and creates a culturally and age-specific work environment.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Observes, reports, and documents patient status and the care or services.
  • Observes and suggests changes to the patient or caregiver regarding internal factors in the home that often cause accidents or an unsafe environment for the patient, family, or aide.
  • Maintains a clean and safe environment in the patient’s residence and performs appropriate nutritional observations.
  • Utilizes proper procedures for personal care.
  • Utilizes proper technique for transfers and ambulation.
  • Demonstrates proficiency and accuracy in other procedures performed in the home.
  • Demonstrates appropriate practices based on the age of the patient served.

Education:

High school graduate or equivalent required.

Experience:

Previous work in a hospital or nursing home/private duty setting preferred.

Licensure/Certification:

State Registered Nursing Assistant Certification (SRNA) required. Valid driver’s license required.

The employee is regularly required to stand, walk, and be on foot for long periods. Must be able to tolerate PPE for long periods.
