Parent Advocate

Program: SUFFOLK COUNTY PREVENTIVE SERVICES

Basic Function of Position: To provide support and assistance to Preventive Services families who are participating the program.

Responsibilities:

▪ Work as an advocate for the preventive services clients and families

▪ Help teach parenting skills

▪ Help clients identify neighborhood resources

▪ Collaborate with caseworkers

▪ Regularly report on all activities preformed for and/or with clients

▪ Provide support to the families in the program

▪ Assist families in connecting with community programs

▪ Assist in emergency situation

▪ Plan recreational activities with the clients

▪ Work Cell phone will be provided and must be on at all times for emergency/crisis situations

▪ Document work as required

▪ Administrative work as needed (filing, making copies, etc.

Qualifications:

▪ High School Diploma

▪ Experience with social services

▪ Bilingual Spanish a plus

▪ Valid NYS drivers license
