The Content Specialist is responsible for supporting the development and maintenance of high-quality content for print and digital products. This role contributes to content planning, design, and development that enhances user experience and supports product goals. The Content Designer collaborates with cross-functional teams to create learner and instructor materials, apply UX principles, and ensure accessibility compliance. They support content governance and operations under the guidance of senior team members and contribute to the continuous improvement of content standards and practices.

In this role, you will:

  • Support content planning, research and development for projects and product maintenance.
  • Design, develop and edit interdependent learner and instructor content in the form of copy decks, storyboards, video scripts, transcripts, and manuscripts.
  • Apply UX writing principles and information architecture to improve usability and engagement.
  • Support content governance by applying tone of voice, style, and AODA and WCAG guidelines across projects.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and stakeholders to align content with product design, user experience, and organizational goals.
  • Support the use of content management systems, design systems and digital asset management tools.
  • Ensure inclusive content practices and balance accessibility requirements with project scope and timelines.

What we are looking for:

  • Minimum of 4-7 years of experience in content design, development, or related fields.
  • Post-secondary diploma or degree in communications, digital media, instructional design, or a related field; equivalent experience may be considered.
  • Strong understanding of content design and development for print and digital products.
  • Knowledge of UX principles, accessibility guidelines (AODA, WCAG), and inclusive content practices.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with tools such as Articulate Rise, D2L/BrightSpace, Jira, Confluence, and Contentful.
  • Ability to collaborate with internal and external stakeholders and contribute to cross-functional projects.
  • Knowledge of the Canadian Press Style Guide and ability to adapt rules to align with brand and project needs.
  • Ability to identify and analyze problems, apply technical and organizational knowledge, and develop practical solutions.
  • Familiarity with systems thinking and atomic design principles.
  • Bilingual in English and French is an asset.

Working Conditions:

  • Ability to adapt to changes in work priorities and respond to time-sensitive needs.
  • Work will be conducted in an office-like setting.
  • May require travel to safe locations; limited exposure to adverse conditions.
  • Work requires the ability to meet deadlines and interact with dissatisfied clients to resolve complex issues.
  • In a large-scale emergency, may be required to support disaster relief and emergency field operations.
