Summary

The Director of Business Development and Marketing needs to be strategic, proactive, and a well-organized leader to drive new thinking and deliver innovative work. Reporting into the SVP of Business Development this role will be responsible for new revenue growth, inbound and outbound prospecting, profitable staffing models as well as marketing AUC to the industry.

As a team member, you will help deliver on aggressive growth goals via new business acquisition and arm the Account leads with tools to drive organic growth.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Growth Responsibilities:
  • Deliver on service offering vision for the discipline within Advantage Unified Commerce and
  • on a revenue number
  • Leverage strong understanding of Commerce, Retail Media, Analytics, and a holistic view
  • eCommerce with Brick & Mortar to ensure agency positioning and pitch work is at the
  • forefront of the industry
  • Lead and motivate a team through RFI/RFPs for net new opportunities; partner with department leads to build/activate pitch teams. Quarterback the actual work product from strategic approach thru ideas, plans and analytics.
  • Participate in the development of early-stage pitch engagement responses including written
  • RFIs, RFPs, and credentials content
  • Guide and enable pitch coordination including timelines, checkpoints, accountabilities, deliverables, design, and production needs
  • Develop profitable staffing models across retained and project scopes, working in partnership with Financial Operations to validate margins and current rates
  • Manage and track all opportunities via the agency’s CRM platform, ensuring accuracy of the total prospecting pipeline for monthly reporting.
  • Build an ongoing strategy to keep the prospect pipeline healthy while moving each opportunity from developing thru the sales process to won.
  • Manage, coach, and develop business development and marketing team talent and direct reports
  • Establish strong, collaborative connections with client and team members to work seamlessly together.
  • Build and strengthen integration between the growth practice and Advantage’s Sales organization, sister agencies, and corporate communications teams
  • Marketing Responsibilities:
  • Continue to hone the Agency’s positioning, streamline how we showcase competitive advantage and ensure capabilities are leading edge.
  • Contribute to the development of AUC’s paid/owned/earned marketing plan, optimizing as the year progresses.
  • Help manage our external PR agency to secure industry event presenter slots, editorial coverage and amplify our thought leadership.

Direct Reports

  • Hires, retains, trains, coaches, guides, directs, and develops direct reports using company-wide processes, tools and resources
  • Indirect Reports - May delegate work of others and provide guidance, direction and mentoring to indirect reports

Travel and/or Driving Requirements:

  • Travel and Driving are essential duties and function of this job

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Education Level: (Required) Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience

Field of Study/Area of Experience:

  • 8+ years of experience in a commerce, marketing, or consulting fields

  • Proven experience in marketing and business development roles.
  • Strong track record of successfully developing and implementing marketing strategies and initiatives that drive business growth.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build relationships, negotiate effectively, and present ideas clearly to stakeholders at all levels.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret data and derive actionable insights.
  • Proficiency in marketing tools and platforms, including digital marketing, CRM systems, and analytics tools.
  • Works comfortably and effectively in fast shifting, high pressure, and constantly iterating environments and situations
  • Establishes productive working relationships, facilitates consensus, empowers people, and injects a spirit of inclusiveness

The salary range for this role is $125,000-$160,000.

Position Summary 

The Senior Director of Business Development will be responsible for the direction and management of sales and business development operations including presentation and RFP development, market competitiveness, pricing, and ROI value creation tools as well as overall growth strategies. This is a high visibility position requiring strong leadership skills.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities

Execution

  • Will manage people- including at least one Director of Business Development
  • Will work extensively with appropriate Customer teams within the Company to develop Leads and appointments with customers
  • Will work independently to generate own leads within key target customers
  • Will develop long term relationships within key customer/client targets
  • Will develop and deliver sales and capabilities presentations, prepare and answer RFP’s and have a clear understanding of the competitive landscape
  • Will work closely with the VP of Business Development/ VP of Operations (and respective teams as appropriate) to ensure that our customer’s expectations are met and overall business plans and strategies are achieved
  • Will be an ambassador and role model for the division and will continually deliver the “customer first” philosophy
  • Will quantify each potential new business opportunity in respect to revenue and profitability in conjunction with Operations and Finance

Planning

  • Will coordinate objectives of the overall business development plan with all of the functional department of the company as necessary
  • Will lead the development and implementation of an overall business development marketing strategy, including competitive analysis, obtaining approval from Senior Mgt team
  • Will prepare at least monthly and quarterly updates to the plan and report back to VP Client Business Development/ Management team
