Director, Social/ Digital Analytics is a self-motivated market research and insights professional with the right mix of social/digital analytic expertise, business knowledge and creative thinking to lead and manage HUNTER’sdata access, analysis and reporting capabilities, ensuring the adoption and application of best-in-class insight and measurement tools, processes and practices. This position will be an active member of the Hunter Intelligence Team, reporting to the Chief Insights & Strategy Officer. This role requires in-depth, hands-on knowledge of social and digital research tools, data and analytic vendors and their capabilities, and a solid understanding of PR and marketing concepts, tools and applications. Ideal candidates possess strong quantitative skills, the ability to understand and deal with complexity and ambiguity, and outstanding consultation and leadership skills to effectively interact with and mentor/coach agency team members. This person should be a self-starter with quick learning capability, representing the agency in driving thought leadership in the social listening/editorial coverage arena.
The director is expected to be highly engaged, passionate and omnipresent in the work he/she performs in support of agency strategic planners, business units and the unit’s clients. In-office presence will be required at least 3x/week. The position also requires significant client contact and counseling and active participation in new business efforts, which could include in-person presentations and travel.
Essential Job Functions & Responsibilities:
Drive Agency Best Practices in Measurement & Insights
- Build proficiency on HUNTER’s Tech Stack, serving as the go-to expert for understanding, using and advocating for its application.
- Drive best practices by staying abreast of industry developments in measurement, toolkit enhancements and dashboarding capabilities and spearheading the adoption of new or improved methods agency wide.
- Act as an internal consultant to work closely with account teams on validating client programming and developing templates for customized client measurement and reporting.
- Spearhead the development of new analyses and deliverables that further monetizes the use of HUNTER’s tech stack.
- Build HUNTER’s analytic efficiencies through actively identifying methods of incorporating AI into workstreams.
- Serve as a senior counselor for all internal (staff members) and external teams (suppliers/partners) who are involved in the collection and interpretation of primary and secondary market insights, competitive and industry trends, and development of solid strategic recommendations for the account teams and clients.
- Partner with other agency specialty teams to drive synergies and support on HUNTER’s business solutions.
- Serve on the HUNTER Power User Group community, helping to support the Social Listening, Media Coverage, Brand Lift and Insight Sub-Teams.
Drive an Integrated Insight-Driven Strategic Approach to Planning
- Counsel and support the strategic planning function, leveraging HUNTER’s suite of measurement tools, for new business pitches, client planning and other client engagements.
- Learn, leverage and advocate for HUNTER’s proprietary frameworks: 7C’s Situation Assessment Process and REAL KPI Measurement Process.Drive the agency’s understanding and usage of these frameworks, providing training, on-going consultation and support so that it remains an integral part of HUNTER’s core process.
Build Strategic and Analytic Thought Leadership
- Provide leadership against insight and measurement-driven client engagements by determining information needed to best meet their specific business goals, driving superior execution, and interpreting findings that lead to business building insights and actionable implications.
- Strengthen HUNTER’s Hunter Intelligence reputation by actively engaging in the industry’s social and digital analytics dialogue, representing HUNTER’s POV and differentiating our capabilities.
- Actively participate in broader Hunter Intelligence team activities designed to reinforce consumer-centric culture via periodic trend reviews, industry environmental analyses and external expert presentations.
Credentials:
- 8+ years of relevant work experience in digital media analytics and research, preferably at a marketing services agency.
- Outstanding leadership and consultative skills to effectively interact with and mentor/coach agency team members and client partners and ability to lead through complexity and ambiguity.
- A solid working knowledge of HUNTER’s digital measurement toolkit, including social/media listening and monitoring tools (e.g. Quid, Meltwater, Brandwatch); data visualization (e.g. Domo, Tableau); website analytics (e.g. Google Analytics, Omniture, Webtrends); insights/trends (Mintel, Simmons, Google Search Trends); and data analysis (e.g. SPS, SAS, R, SQL).
- Experience partnering with research companies (e.g., Harris, Wakefield) to conduct surveys to gather audience insights; ability to use DIY survey tools a plus.
- Strong Excel skills (pivot tables, v-lookup, text to columns, charts)
- Strong communicator and storyteller, both written and verbal, with the ability to create, build and deliver a clear and succinct story from data analysis and prepare compelling presentations and reports.
- Deep understanding of marketing fundamentals, brand planning and strategy, brand positioning, message evaluation, target consumer definition and brand analytics.
- Familiarity with PR and marketing performance metrics and an understanding of how they relate to business impact
- Team-minded and collaborative, with strong persuasive and problem-solving skills
- Excellent project management skills, nimble and adaptable with demonstrated success in a fast-paced, service-focused organization.
- Passion for problem solving and thinking critically, with a demonstrated ability to learn quickly.
- Position will require working in the New York office 3x/week and travel as needed
In order to comply with equal pay and salary transparency laws in various locations, the Company believes the target range of base compensation for this role is $115,000- 150,000 annually, and may be eligible for overtime pay. Actual compensation is influenced by a wide array of factors including but not limited to skill set, level of experience, and location.
