20A Brief Overview
The clinical instructor and/or preceptor responsibility and accountability is to provide guidance and mentorship to student clinicians as assigned by the manager. The preceptor will demonstrate competency in the department by following policies and procedures. They will maintain clinical expertise by attending workshops, seminars, and in-services related to the needs of the department. Clinical Instructors participates actively in clinical education activities, including orientation of new employees and teaching students in the area of Physical Therapists, Physical Therapists Assistance, Occupational Therapists, Occupational Therapists Assistances or Speech-Language Pathologists.
Essential Job Duties
Demonstrates clinical competency, knowledge, decision making and appropriate skill level.
Provide bi-weekly progress and/or concerns to the student, supervisor, clinical educator.
Deliver professional care that are congruent with the mission, vision and values of the organization.
Perform essential and marginal duties of the Occupational Therapist.
Complies with all policies, standards, mandatory training and requirements of Stormont Vail Health
Performs other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Maintain CEUs that are required for license and registration. Maintain annual preceptor competency. Required
9 months Stormont Vail Health experience and meet the years of experience based on the discipline’s professional by-laws; manager’s discretion. Required
Have successfully completed preceptor course training required by the accredited program the student is attending. Required
Occupational Therapist (OT) - KSBHA Required
Basic Life Support - BLS Required within 90 days of hire.
Additional certification may be required for certain patient care settings or populations.
